As people across America fall in love with the grace and style of the First Lady, Michelle Obama, it might seem odd at first to hear any negative critique about her always flawless appearance. But for Iman, the 53-year-old supermodel and wife of David Bowie, Michelle is more than just a pretty face.
"Mrs. Obama is not a great beauty,” Iman tells Parade.com. “But she is so interesting looking and so bright. That will always take you farther."
Iman, who could easily pass for 40 with her glowing skin and gorgeous smile, thinks looks can be totally overrated.
"When you’re a great beauty, it’s always downhill for you," she explains. "If you’re someone like Mrs. Obama, you just get better with age.”

I believe that she made this statement because of a lack of self love. That statement is nothing but an outward mainfestion of how she feels about her own personal looks. In Africa she grew up in an environment where she was not as accepted because the was considered to be too “skinny”. She was only accepted in American because of her wafer thin body. I guess it is hard for her to grasp that American’s image of beauty is now becoming more diverse and less bias. She probably is wondering where she fits in now as far as “beauty” is concerned!
