Maybe someone should tell Robert Pattinson he’s a rich movie star now!
Earlier this week, the Twilight hottie and some pals spent $350 on dinner in a fancy restaurant — but only dropped a $50 tip!

Rob, in the Big Apple to shoot his new film Remember Me, went to famed Greenwich Village Italian eatery Il Cantinori with three guy pals and a female friend just before 10pm on Tuesday.
Onlookers tell OK! that the group drank a $60 bottle of Chianti and Rob himself knocked back a couple of bottles of Moretti Italian beer (he had the Caprese salad as an appetizer and the veal Milanese for the entree, since you’re wondering…).
The casually dressed party laughed and joked at the table until nearly midnight. “They were the last diners to leave,” says one observer. The restaurant even comped a round of prosecco for the table.
But when it came time to pay, the group left a tip of only $50, just shy of the standard 15%, and way shy of what you’d expect the star of the most anticipated movie of the year to pay.
Even so, their waiter told OK! Rob was “very nice and friendly.”
But come on Rob, you’re not a starving artist anymore — you can do better than that!
give him a break. he is probably stressed. he can barely walk outside without geting attacked by fans! just because he is rich dosen’t mean he or any rich person has to give a big tip. when people who aren’t so rich give 2-5 dallors SO GET YOUR BIG FAT ASSES OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!

Did you also know Rob’s manager paid the tab?!When filming was going on for Twilight Rob offered to pay the tab nearly everytime the cast went out and usually did(cast words),did we hear/read about a problem with Rob’s “tipping” then? I love that everyone is making this a big deal. Did anyone stop to think the service might not have been that good. I’d say you’d be lucky you got anything. And yes, he probably can’t even think straight with all the craziness going on. Leave the poor guy, he’s just a person. Hey he’s hot and famous, but still give him some room and some privacy. Everyone needs a little breathing room, and he’s still nice enough at the end of the day to stop for photos and autographs some times. Crazy fans need to give him some room!!

In fact, in the united states, restaurant servers are required to report a minimum of 8% of most receipts as tip income. As a diner it’s technically not necessary to tip on top of tax or alcohol, but in practice every civilized person always does. It’s also not required to tip for comped goods, but it’s churlish not to.
End of the story, $50 is a bit low. $70 would have been more appropriate barring a significant lapse in service. And, whatever, who cares. Another cheapskate, big deal.

Also, tipping is absolutely stupid. When I was living in England and Australia, the waiters and waitresses were actually paid a normal amount so that they did not need to be tipped. Maybe America should do the same thing. I have worked as a waitress and I hated having to live off tips. I hate tipping. It’s not mandatory… interesting isn’t it?
First of all, why make this into a big deal anyway?
Secondly, he’s from Europe and waiting isn’t actually a horribly paid profession here, and don’t live off of tips. It’s scandalous the wages they have to live off in America. Perhaps he didn’t know it or didn’t think about it. The whole tipping system sucks anyway.
