Kara DioGuardiNow that the drama surrounding whether or not Paula Abdul would return to American Idol is over, fans can breathe a sigh of relief that Kara DioGuardi will also be returning as a judge on the ninth season.

Fox announced today that Kara will be at the judges’ table with Paul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson when the popular reality competition hits the airwaves in January 2010. She made her debut on the show’s panel last season.

“We are so happy to welcome back Kara for her second season with Idol,” said Simon Fuller, Creator/Executive Producer of AI in a statement released today. “She is a breath of fresh air, and her passion for music and her understanding of talent is invaluable. This show is all about discovering new talent, and Kara’s championing of Adam Lambert is proof positive of her great instinct.”

AI can already end their run because of ADAM’s emergence as WORLD Idol and Superstar through their show. Their quest has ended because AI’s original title is: AMERICAN IDOL: The Search for a Superstar.
And Simon says that what they’re looking for is a someone who is a superstar to the world, not only US. And no one can top ADAM after this year. And it was Paula, not Kara, who acknowledged and recognized ADAM’s star from day one.
Kara always criticized ADAM as theatrical and not emotionally connected but warmed up to him only when she knew she has to join ADAM’s bandwagon or be left behind. She didn’t get ROF and she had her chance to turn around on Ellen’s but still not get it.
But I give credit to Kara’s early criticism even of Simon because ADAM said he took them positively and coming from musical theater, he adjusted accordingly. It’s why his Satisfaction and Black and White were not his best as he said but did better after adjusting. But to me, still electrifying in AI standard all 8 years.
Simon is a fan from his audition with the look in his eyes. No doubt about it. But tried to hold back and tried to give criticism for ADAM’s good from day one saying he’s theatrical. But it’s Kara rooting for someone else who needed warming up. But she’s forgiven with that Rock God comment.
My question, are the producers of the show blatantly admitting AI got it wrong with who the winner is??? Why mention ADAM and not KRIS, the winner in saying AI is all about finding new talent?
AI should do changes in their voting system now that they concede it’s really ADAM who is the TALENT discovered but their system sucks. The judges should have a say just like Dancing with the Stars. But Paula should be back.

It’s about time they got smart - got rid of Paul and asked Kara back. Paula is so freakin’ boring. Love my DVR - just fast forward when Paula opens her mouth. Ugh! So glad she’s gone.
