Katharine McPhee thinks it’s about time American Idol changed things up. During last night’s Feeding America benefit concert, Katharine told E! News, “I imagine some of the crazed fans who love Idol and don’t want it to change at all would be upset. But I think it’s a great changeup.”
Katharine didn’t think Paula Abdul leaving the show was a big shocker. “It doesn’t surprise me, because it wouldn’t surprise me if Simon Cowell was leaving the show,” said the former Idol singer whose new album Unbroken comes out early next year.
“They’ve all been on the show for so many years…Do what you’ve got to do,” she said of Paula leaving the show.
Katharine thinks what the show really needs is exactly what Ellen DeGeneres has.
“There’s just something cool about Ellen. You can go around and around and say, ‘What can she bring to the show?’ but she’s just cool!”
I,for one,will not be watching American Idol this year. I do have my reasons . I still don’t understand why they could not keep Paula?
Sorry Katherine, I do not agree with you! American Idol did not need such a drastic change. It was doing fine until now. Haven’t you heard of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”? And replaces Paula with Ellen is the most dumbest move EVER! For God sakes what does Ellen know about music???????

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…..I think the change will be excellent for the show! Paula was getting a bit ’stale’ and not to say she didn’t know a good singer when she heard one; but, there was a certain boredom she produced every time she gave a compliment or made the attempt to correct a mistake….she sounded the same to everyone. Ellen on the other hand has a very enthusiastic nature and will bring a new enjoyment to the show just as she does so well on her own show! She is bright, quick-witted and charming. She is so down to earth…..I truly believe she will be a very fair and resposible judge and also will get along very well with the other three on the panel.
