In the ongoing volley of finger-pointing and denials following actress Mackenzie Phillips‘ shocking allegations that she had been involved in an incestuous relationship with her father, music legend John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas, Mackenzie’s best friend has come out swinging in her defense.
Owen Elliot, the daughter of John’s bandmate Cass Elliot tells Extra, “Mackenzie is my best friend. She speaks her truth, and it’s not a pretty truth. She has lived with this for 30+ years, and talking about this now is an important part of her recovery. I am very proud of her. Her bravery in telling her story is bound to help others.”

Yes what she says is worth listening too, being addict is a disease , because of addiction in past because she does not look like she did when she was high i remember that yrs ago she has aged and dont judge her by her addiction to tv, pc, cell phones we all have addictions some worse than others.
She was a victim, and that’s not her fault. Her father was toxic and selfish. He shot her up and had sex with her. Come on, why are people so mean to victims. If she’s doing this publicly that’s her choice. If it’s just for money, I don’t fault her for that either. She’s doing what she can to survive now, and her past hurt her terribly. Why would someone lie about those kinds of things unless she’s completely insane. And what if she is? If she is insane wouldn’t the right thing to do be to have empathy for her and be caring? I know her family is upset about the publicity, but they are feeding into that by getting involved too. I, for one, empathize with her as the victim of abuse and believe her story and wish her peace and kindness from family and strangers. I wish her the best.
If she needs to speak about it as part of her reovery, why not do it with a psyquiatrist like everyone else. Why let the whole world know abou this ?? If she thinks she might go to hell for having sex with her dad, then go see a priest. What ’s the point of going on TV and writing a book about it. How is that going to make her recover? She should get mecical help and some psycho therapy like everyone else with similar problems. But then, of course, that doesn’t sell and I suppose that what she needs/wants is to make money out of this.
