Michelle Duggar and husband Jim Bob already have 18 kids — and a 19th on the way, due in March 2010 — but that doesn’t mean the 42-year-old mom would ever say no to more. “We would love more,” TLC’s 18 Kids and Counting mom tells ParentDish.com in a new interview. “We’re just so thrilled that God blessed us with another one. So, if he gives us more, we will gladly receive the gift.”
“We are thrilled,” Michelle admits in the interview, adding that it’s not easy, however. “I feel sick and tired a lot right now.”
Not only are the Duggar parents to their ever-expanding brood, their son Josh and his wife Anna are expecting a child of their own in October. So how does Michelle feel about her youngest being younger than her grandchild?
“I am just amazed. Being 42, I was wondering if could still have another,” she confesses. “That season of change is happening a bit, so I figured I would just enjoy hugging and loving on my grandbabies.”
As for a name, the Duggars are known for giving all their kids monikers beginning with the letter “J.” But this time around, they’re asking everyone for ideas in choosing the perfect J!
“Jim Bob says we’re open to suggestions on J-names,” reveals Michelle. “People can go on our Web site, duggarfamily.com and e-mail us at JimBob@afo.net with name suggestions.”
I think there foolish they have 18 healthy kids and now there having another one.. what if one comes out with a disability they should stop having kids………..i love the duggers but its time to enjoy there grandkids now…………..stop having kids………….. there lives will be a mess if the next one comes out with something wrong with it………..

I know you meant well, and I myself would never have had that many, even if I was able to, but I admire and commend this couple They have provided well for their family and are raising children who will make great contributions to this world. I do know from my own experience that having a handicap child does not makes a family’s life a mess. I’m blessed to have 3 children, the oldest of whom is mentally handicapped, due to an accident at birth. While I love all my children the same (the other 2 are considered gifted), my handicapped son has shown me a glimpse of what Heaven must be life…no jealosy, no seflishness, never competing for attention, and always looking for the best for everyone else. His siblings feel the same way and all are very close. He is the glue and the anchor to our family. Also, never feel sad for the parent of a handicapped child. I draw strength from God and feel so blessed by God for entrusting one of His special children to me.
Yes but the other kids are paying, the girls are always busy carring, changing, feeding,seting and doing shores for kids that they are not theirs. How can you make your older children responsible for their younger siblings. It is a Shame, first of all they suppose to be ready for their children’s children. Seems to be that when mom and dad are making kids, the older kids are doing shores. this is child abuse.
these kids are being raised to be responsible contributing members of a household. I think raising them with the awareness of what it takes to create and care for a loving family is extremely valuable to their development . These children are learning selflessness, responsibility, motivation, value of hard work and all the other family values that seem to be going by the wayside nowadays. Their lives are rich because they revolve around caring for each other instead of empty activities

I say God bless this precious family! While I would never EVER consider having that many children myself, when I watch this family interact with one another I am constantly amazed at how well they get along. The Duggar children are well behaved, respectful and helpful, which is more than I can say for many families with less children. Sure they may seem to lead a sheltered life, but what’s wrong with that? Not everyone wants their children exposed to the harshness of the world, and if this family can continue to thrive and prosper living the way they do, more power to them!

I love watching this family and how they are together but I have to laugh she says that she is happy that God has blessed her with another child. I am sorry but it is not God that is doing it, it is Jim Bob. Maybe separate rooms after this one should be considered.

They live debt free.. their motto is buy used and save the difference.. they are both licensed real estate agents and they OWN commercial property that they rent out.
They recieve no GVT/STATE support. they support themselves. They built their house. they own the property it sits on. the kids are homeschooled and they are very good polite well rounded children. They are very devout in their beliefs and should not be bashed because of it.
They aren’t like Octomom that relies on gvt. aid and the public to help her. they have been married for over 25 years now. They aren’t like Jon and Kate. they didn’t have a litter of babies all at once. Michelle has regular checkups and is in perfect health. Jim bob has always left the decision to bear more children up to her. The kids all pitch in and help each other out. They don’t have nannies to come help with the kids.. or house keepers. and are always ready willing and able to lend a hand to others!
I realize they are in the public eye and that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but really this family is just happy being who they are. The Duggar Family!! Lets just enjoy our families as they do theirs! I am happy for them. It’s not my way of life, I would never have 19 babies but then again I am not that kind of mom. I work and go to school and support my kids and myslef and am happy to do so and be left alone. I don’t pass judgement on how others live their lives..
They are the most responsible people that I have ever seen and my daughter and I truly enjoy watching their show everyweek. That family amazes me with how they run so smoothly.. I only have 2 kids and one is Grown and I can’t do what they do!! To me it’s inspirational to see such a strong family they have built! Lets just live and let live huh??!!

People criticize this couple for how they raise their children (older children helping out, etc.)…People have forgotten that families raised their kids in the same manner many years ago when there wasn’t daycares, etc. on every street corner. I think it would be much better to have your family help out with raising kids than to have someone else do it (if at all possible).
Sure the other kids “Help Out”…they all have to raise the little ones. You know the whole thing with their “buddy” system, when a baby is weaned it is bestowed upon one of its older siblings. That is not raising your kids, that is having kids so your other kids can raise them, that is the irresponsibility in their family. The experience of helping out siblings is good yes, but leaving the daily drone of raising kids to kids is not. It is Jim Bob’s and Michelle’s choice to keep having babies yet they probably never asked the other kids who raise them if they feel the same “excitement about the gifts that God gives them”.
I agree with Andie G, if they want more kids, if they don’t need government help, hire 7 nanies so your younger children be rasised by adults and give a break to the children. That is not a good example to the youngsters that are in their teens. shame shame shame

As the 8th of 9 children, I grew up with this kind of amazing (birth control) attitude shoved in my face all the time (don’t your parents know what causes that?) Now my folks are surrounded by loving children and nearly 40 grandchildren…while you will grow old alone, alone, alone.

It is time to quit, I used to love the show but this past season all she did on air was nurse Jordan, she has pleanty of time to make babies becuase all of their childern have there jurisdiction and that leaves her time to nurse and spend quality time with Jim Bob. She is 42 years old when this child turn 20 years old she will be 62, will she still have the engery and time to raise her childern to adulthood. She is damaging her body. God forbid if her health fails.

Jim Bob and Michelle are self supporting. They are not on welfare. They pay cash for everything. They also have a large savings account. But, Jim Bob needs to keep his pants zipped. I know they want as many children “as the Lord sees fit to give them”. I think Michelle needs to start thinking about her health. It can’t be healthy for her to be having a baby almost every year. I came from a family of 13 kids, and it was no fun. No alone time to just daydream, always having to share what little you have. It is not a good way to grow up as far as I am concerned.

The simple fact here is that Michelle Duggar is getting a little long in the tooth. That someone would post here and suggest that her most recent pregnancy has a possibility of ending with her having a child that may be born with a disability is just a common fact for any woman over 40. Yes the Duggars are good Christians, and yes the Duggars are fine folk who don’t leech off any welfare programs, and who seem to be doing a fine job of raising all those children that’s not up for debate. But realistically, facts are facts and the older we get the higher risk there is to bear a child with a disability. Then you have replies to some of the posts that suggest something may go wrong and all they can think is ” well isn’t a child with a disability worthy of love?”. What unmitigated stupidity. Of course if you have a child with a disability you are going to love and nurture that baby the same as you would a child born without a disability, but it is not ever, EVER, anyone’s wish to have a child with a disability. You behave as though it would occur to a woman to wake up one day and say that she “was a gonna up and have herself a baby with a disability”. We all want healthy babies that grow up to be healthy and sane adults that stay off drugs. Am I wrong? A child with a disability is obviously not going to be the same as Michelle’s other children and will require more time and energy than maybe even Michelle may have. That being said…, God bless Michelle Duggar, and it is my fervent hope that this 19th pregnancy is easy and complication free for her and that the end result is another healthy baby for her and her family to love. But realistically, it’s time for her to start thinking of maybe some of the things that could go wrong. She is obviously the center of that family, so how horrible would it be to leave behind 19 orphans when you could have just put a little thought into it and who knows…, maybe stop and enjoy those gifts the Lord has given her and Jim Bob. I agree, I had my youngest child at the age of 44 and he has Down Syndrome. He is a wonderful child, but the fact is, the older you are when you have a child, the more likely you are to have a child with a birth defect, especially after 40. Michelle is going to be 43 when she has this baby and she will be at increased risk for a child with a birth defect, any type of defect. Your eggs age and deteriorate rapidly as you approach menopause.

From the nursing perspective, I can’t help but think of the dangers of trying to care for her youngest children while also going through the stages of pregnancy. There are just certain things that she won’t be able to do at times that could be dangerous or unhealthy. I do pray for the family.

i think that you all are very blessed. my husband and i have 2 of our own and have adopted one and are in the prosess of our 2nd. we watch your show and love it we learn a lot. here are a couple of names for you and your family, josalynn faith for a girl, and jasper landon for a boy, hope that you all have a healthy baby and god bless you all.
