Settling into their new house in Louisville, Ky., Larry Birkhead and his daughter Dannielynn, who turned 3 on Sept. 7, are living proof that love can triumph over tragedy. After her mother, Anna Nicole Smith, died of drug-related complications, the tot was the center of a custody battle which continues today. Through it all, America has only wanted what’s best for this little girl. At last, it seems she’s getting just that.
Away from the spotlight in her photographer father’s hometown, surrounded by family and friends, the mini Anna and SpongeBob devotee is just like any other child her age — which is exactly how her doting dad wants it.
Can you believe Dannielynn is 3?
It seems only weeks ago I was bringing her home and now all this time has gone by and she’s bigger and wiser and such a great kid. Her birthday is a happy occasion. Parties are always stressful for me because I try to make them these big blowouts. But she’s at the age where she appreciates it now and she’s excited — although I’ve been warning her that she has to give up her bottle when she turns 3, so we’ll see how that goes.
She’s a mini Anna — they’re identical!
It just happened in the last year. I have photos where they look exactly the same. She loves posing for the camera like Anna, too. And she’s going to be tall like her mommy.

What’s the cutest thing she does that makes you smile?
We were flicking through stations on the radio in the car the other day and she starts singing along to this song, “You’re a jerk, you’re a jerk.” I have to watch what I say around her now because she’s a sponge.
Do you love being a dad?
I do! It’s hard work and time consuming but it’s worth it when I hear her laugh. All my friends are out in bars, but I don’t miss it. In fact, I’m morphing into my parents — I’ve become corny and sensible.
Does she miss Anna?
She misses her mom so much. Right now she’s at the age where she’s noticing that other children in television and in books have moms. She said to me the other day quite seriously, “Where’s my mom?” It was sad but I explained to her, “Your mommy is in the clouds and you’ll see her again one day.” She knows who her mom is, though — I make sure of that. Our home is filled with photos of Anna and recognizes her straight away. I want to keep her mom and Daniel in her mind.
What do you hope for Dannielynn this year and in the years to come?
I just want her to be a kid and not worry about all the nasty things going on in this world. I’m her shield and that’s how it will always be.

Larry Birkhead knew very well that Anna Nicole Smith was a middle aged drug addict on opiates and he impregnted her on purpose; he wanted to become rich and famous. Anna Nicole gave Ecstasy and methadone to her son Daniel who later overdosed and died. Larry Birkhead knew that, but didn’t do anything to stop that. Larry Birkhead sells pictures of litle girl and exploits Anna’s memory . Dannielynn should have a NORMAL childhood, far away from Hollywood or she will end up like her mother and half brother.
Ummmm…. it helps if you READ the story… “Away from the spotlight in her photographer father’s hometown, surrounded by family and friends…” Larry Birkhead’s hometown is in Kentucky, far away from Hollywood… while I agree with most of your comment it really helps the validity of it if you actually read the story you are commenting on and get your facts straight.

This child is always smiling, more than evident Larry Birkhead is providing a safe loving environment for his daughter. I respect him and enjoy seeing her pictures.
I think Larry is a great parent. He does much better that Anna or Stern could have done.
Larry is wothout a doubt a very good and loving parent to Dannielynn. he is doing a great job raising that little beautiful girl. He loves Dannielynn a lot and she loves her daddy a lot. It´s easy to see in these beautiful pictures. Larry is giving her a safe and loving environment to grow up and that´s what matters. Dannielyn sure misses her mum a lot but she now has a loving dad. Hopefully Larry will one day get married and Dannielynn will have siblings.
Anna Nicole only wanted a sperm donor to have a attractive child, her own clone. She chose Birkhead, gay man who agreed to impregnate her for money. Anna Nicole fled to Bahamas because Birkhead wanted Marshall money and fame via baby. She didn’t want to share her money nor the baby. Every time i see Dannielynn i think about NASTY PATERNITY SCANDAL and fight over Marshall millions.
Congrats to Larry for being such a good dad! Obviously he cares about Anna still, he goes thru great lengths to provide fotos and such to Dannielynn. I am sure that Anna approves of everything Larry has done. He has not “pimped” Dannielynn out, nor is he gay or was Anna a drug addict. There is a lot of interest in Dannielynn because of who her mother was. He does a great job shielding her from the public.

Same for you DD. Daniel (RIP) stole drugs from Anna. You dont even know what you are talking about. Get the facts or keep your opinions to yourself.

rag mags that were sayin it right????/….Cause she doesnt have a life of her own some people just get very jealous they have to say bad things about other people
why on earth would there be an ongoing custody battle? it is clear that he takes very good care of his daughter. She wouldn’t always be smiling and carefree the way she is if he didn’t. That’s crazy for it to even be an issue. The one thing Anna-Nicole did right in her life was have a child by this man because truly she is THE most beautiful hollywood child. She really is, but I hope none of the tragedy of her mom’s life touches hers.
Well, it does appear that birkhead is giving the girl a relatively normal life (aside from the annual/semiannual photoshoot)- although i do question his motives/parenting skillls in allowing the girl to wear a shirt that says “my mom…my hero” in the photo- after all, her mother was not exactly what every dad wants his daughter to grow up to be. I just hope that he is saving the money he recieves from these photoshoots for his daughter’s future- college, grad school…lawyer bills, you know the typical things. After all, it’s growing less and less likely that a court will buy team ANS’ “creative” claims in their neverending battle against the Marshall family…and all that lawyer time gets expensive!

If you look at some magazine photos and read a cutesy article and think everything is fine and dandy, you’re a moron. Even children who are abused know how to smile — not that I think she’s abused, I’m just making that clear. You nor I nor anyone reading that magazine has any idea how her homelife is.
To suggest that Anna was NOT addicted to drugs is either ignorance or naiveté. Google it, if you must. Did any of you watch her show? Seriously! She was sick and needed help.

He was initially in it for the money and fame, which was crystal freakin’ clear. Lets hope that his time spent raising this precious, innocent little girl has changed his motives. Lets hope that this little girl can grow up to respect herself despite her mother’s legacy.
i am just wondering, if the robert and kristen wedding exusive is true are just a fad, cause i hered that robert pattinson had a girlfriend after he and kristen SPLIT… but that mag must be wrong. but i don’t mind im just a fan of both of them….well im at a school called Exmouth COmunaty Collage and i am wonting to make my own magazine but i know im not going to get that far, i don’t actually read many mags but i do read some..i have some good singers at my collage in the UK and some good bands and incan sing my self….. i did have a dream that i wanted to be an actress and i need some tips how to get into that kind of stuff i also whant to be a singer but i whant to be an actress mostly so i can work along side robert pattinson, taylor launer or even kristen j stewert….
I just have get my two cents in,I have been watching and kepying up on all ,about Anna and Larry Birkhead,Well if Mr. Moe ever writes a book,I will be the first to buy it.The guys that made Anna clothes,they say that she loved the old man marshall,first and Howard K.Stern ,was the next love of her life.Larry was a spern donor,Hope the best for Larry and Dannelyn,But he is in it for the dollar signs,I love to see her happy and it is sad she will grow up with no mother,There is a long road ahead for Larry,Dannielyn has to grow up and she will have to hear about her Mom.
