In the midst of a messy divorce, it’s no surprise that mom-of-eight Kate Gosselin is wary of tying the knot a second time. She came clean about her attitude toward matrimony in a Jon & Kate Plus 8: You Ask, Kate Answers special, after a fan asked, “Do you ever see yourself married again?”
“Really? Seriously? Do you really think now is a good time to be answering that?” she replied on Monday’s episode.
“I struggle because I really don’t want to be married again—can you blame me?—but I don’t want to be alone,” the 34-year-old said, before adding,”We shall see. Maybe when I’m 73 1/2.”
Despite being filmed and photographed 24/7, it seems there are still elements of Kate’s life that remain a mystery. For instance, how much help does the supermom actually have?
She has “a full-time babysitter… a girl who cleans my house, and people to do the yard work.” Kate asked, “Does that sound pampered? It’s called ’survival.’”
Meanwhile, another fan asked if there’s money stashed away for the children (twins Cara and Mady, 8, and 5-year-old sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel).
Kate assured viewers “a healthy amount of money is put away for the kids, and it is safe.
“It will not be touched other than for education…Come hell or high water, they will have the opportunity.”
So what about her mommy makeover (the tan, her distinctive blonde ‘do and toned bod)? “If I was still wearing those crinkly dirty T-shirts with sweatpants, there could be a problem,” she stated.
“If you take care of yourself and try to look nice, it’s reflective of how you feel about yourself. I want [the kids] to be proud of me, to think, Mommy cares, and so should I.”
Kate also talked about her hopes of moving from television to the silver screen.
“Somewhere in here I’ve discovered that I’ve done enough years of TV that I feel like it’s a normal, natural, comfortable place to be,” she mused.
“I’d love to be in a movie at some point. I would love to be the voice of a cartoon character in a movie for my kids. I think that would be fun.”
And where does she see herself in 10 years?
“I do not project anymore,” she said. “Do you blame me? If I had my choice, myself and my kids in 10 years will be happy, healthy…I would love my TV career thing to be successful.
“I’ve found my niche. I would love not to be alone…but nobody’s ever going to buy into my mess, so I probably will be. But it’s OK, I’ll just be working hard anyway.”
