No wonder Robert Pattinson has millions of fans following his every move — the handsome Brit admits in a new interview that he took his heartthrob cue from swoonworthy acting legend, James Dean. “Rebel Without a Cause was a big influence on the first [Twilight film] — it influenced the hairdo and stuff,” R-Pattz tells USAWeekend.com.
“In lots of ways, it has a very similar character arc: An everyday girl brings this relatively strange individual out of his slump,” he adds of the Edward Cullen/Bella Swan dynamic.
New Moon director Chris Weitz definitely agrees that Rob has that same ability to attract teenage girls in flocks.
“It’s like The Birds, with teenage girls,” he jokes. “You turn around, and there would be a line of girls standing there.”

As fanatic as his fans are, the 23-year-old star is still humble about all the attention he gets these days.
“I’m not entirely sure what it is,” he says. “I’ll probably realize afterward how I could have controlled it a little bit more. But I am still like a deer in headlights.”
And if fans get him confused with his vampire alter ego, that’s no big deal — Rob doesn’t mind!
“Right at the beginning, everyone just called me Edward,” he admits. “I don’t really mind either way. There’s something about that character that, for some reason, has sparked an interest in massive degrees in so many different people.
“If you want to compete with your own character, you have to really fight. I don’t know if I could be bothered to fight,” he says. “I just let it go by.”

Rob is Amazing, sweet, funy, humble, talented, GORGEOUS, and always love me, but not in weird way, just want him to be extremely happy, and successful.
Sounds like Rob is keeping a level head regarding all the “Birds”/teen fans. Hope he’s having a wonderful time shooting the movie(s) and enjoys the spot-light. Knowing Hollywood, fame can place an actor on a pedestal, then enjoy knocking them off that pedestal. Rob, stay grounded and you’ll do great!
OK OK, I like twilight…. No wait I love it but seriously people do need to cut it out. I live in Vancouver where he is filming and all I hear about is oh my god, I am going to stalk him. Is it really worth waiting around a set for 6 hours just to maybe get a glimpse of him walking by or driving away? He is ROBERT PATTISON NOT EDWARD CULLEN! It is just a role people. I honestly feel bad for the guy. He can not go anywhere without getting mauled by girls and the worst part is he doesn’t like it, if he did he would be going to the clubs and flaunting like other celebs!!!
I agree, he is not Edward Cullen, the books were some of the best books I’ve ever read. I’ll also agree he is hotter than hot, but he’s an actor. This is his job. He’s just a normal person like the rest of us, he just has a job that puts him in the spotlight. For some reason people have a hard time understanding he is playing a part. We really dont know the real Robert, he should not be confused with Edward out in the REAL world! Stop making his life a living hell and let him do his job and let him live his life.
