Kate Gosselin may be locked in a war with the father of her eight children, Jon Gosselin, but she can count on the ladies of The View for support.
The show’s doyenne Barbara Walters, 80, defended the TLC reality star and lobbied for her new series, Kate Plus 8, to remain on air after it premieres next month.
“When she’s been on with us on The View we have a special feeling for her,” Barbara told reporters. “I think she’s in a very difficult position and trying to handle it as best she can.
“I think it’s very difficult for Kate. I think it’s very difficult for the children.” She added, “for the sake of the children, I hope the series will continue.”
Meanwhile, single mom Sherri Shepherd has a bone to pick with 34-year-old Kate’s estranged hubby.
“It makes me very angry because I can understand that you guys are going through difficulties,” she tells OK!.
“But when you do things like pull all of your money out of the account that’s shared with your wife, it affects your children — the ultimate losers in this are your children,” she says of Kate’s claim that Jon, 32, drained their joint account of $230,000 (Jon denies this, saying he withdrew only $22,000).
“When she has no money to pay her bills,” Sherri says in a message for the hard-partying dad, “it affects your kids, and that makes me really angry,”
So, what advice does Sherri have for Kate? “I think the best advice you can give a woman who’s going through that, is just support and [let her know] you’re just there.”
They need to mind there own business. There is always two sides to every story, so until they know the whole truth keep quiet.

Both of these parents are guilty of pimping their children to advance their own selfish interests; none of the hell storm that has ensued from this should surprise anyone; it’s likely that Jon Gosselin has partied away a ton of money; it’s also likely that kate has lots stashed away for herself, despite the waterworks display; this political posturing in order to gain favor, at the expense of those children, is abhorrent. I hope that when the children are old enough to act on their own they launch a class action suit against TLC and/or the parent company, for loss of the family unit. Get the whole story before commenting. Why is the extended family shunned; what did they do to try and save the marriage; who decided to drag all this out before the world? Shame on “the View” for giving this mess any attention at all. I thought Barbara Walters was a pro; very sad.
I agree Kathy, there is always his side, her side and the truth is in the middle. I think Jon is acting out of line, but I also think Kate is too. I saw the Today show and she kept saying I never wanted to talk about this in detail. Well then don’t let the cards fall where they may and he will look how he looks if you are telling the truth.

Jon is said to have taken $230,000 from their account last week, according to Kate’s attorney and Kate. But, Kate has gone on the Today’s show and told Meredith that she has account that Jon has started taking money out on August 10, 2009 and stopped on September 29, 2009.
Okay, I wish The View ladies would stop to think for a minute. If Kate is the controller of the money, why hasn’t she known that Jon was taking out money in August and September, for after all, she gets bank statements and she could go online to check her account anytime of the day. Plus, Jon couldn’t take money out of the count without talking to her first. I’m not buying Kate’s story.
Another thing, did Kate forget that she’d done an interview on the Today’s show on August 10,2009 and afterwards she went shopping with her bodyguard. So, what money was Kate using?
Well Melinda how can Kate not talk about it when the world is talking about her including yourself. Bottom line is Jon is not acting his age and a father to eight children.
With the exception of Lisa Ling I am so disappointed in the ladies of The View and especially Barbara who is an award winning investigative reporter. Perhaps she should investigate the Jon and kate situation before making a decision to support the exploitation of eight innocent children. MY GOD, LISTEN TO WHAT YOU’RE SAYING! In my opinion you are being ignorant ( itsaboutthekids)what difference is JnK’s show then Big World Little People or 18 and counting. I do not see anyone saying anything about them making money due to their show. But, you want to put Kate down because of the show. Kate is an exellent mother and does a great job at running a household with six five year olds and eight year old twins. She is more of a parent then Jon. I agree with the ladies on the view for supporting her in this hard time. Jon should act more like an adult in this situation instead of worrying about women and partying he should be worried about his children and giving their mother respect and his soon to be ex wife of ten years the respect that she deserves.

Maybe sure isn’t out partying the night away with a whole bunch of guys, but remember she was the one before the ended their relationship…she was the one who was gone off travelling, away from the kids ALL the time. Its not about the kids, its all about Kate. She wants to live like a huge superstar, and that she is NOT, either is Jon. They both need to get REAL jobs to support their kids and their house hold. They BOTH made this mess, and now they owe it to their kids to act like adults, and communicate with each other. The papers leaked online that states they have a $700,000 mortgage on their new house. Plus they have a mortgage on their old house that hasnt yet sold. So no, TLC did not buy their new home.

At least when Kate was gone from home it was because she wrote those books to help support her family, so of course she was required to promote it because thats what she gets paid for. If you expect her to get a real job, she will never be home and the kids will always be with sitters. Can you imagine how much that would cost for 8 children? No real job will pay enough to cover the childcare. None of you people stop to consider that it would be a min of about $3000 to $4000 a month for 8 kids. Kate has put money in accounts for all of the kids for their education and future expense. Thats where her money has gone. Jon is the one who has bought three new cars this year, all of them small. Thats where all the money went along with his NY apartment. He forgets all these things add up along with mortgage on Pa home and utilities. Im sure that they have a huge grocery bill also. Being a parent of 4 children myself I know I spend at least $1200 a month.

While I don’t agree with either parent going on TV to discuss this stuff, I think someone needs to remind Jon that a $2 million paycheck also comes with almost $1 million in taxes. And setting up sizable trusts for 8 children would drain even more money out of joint funds. Not to mention the million dollar estate that the family purchased within the last year.
When dealing with a joint account that is designed to pay for joint expenses, including untilities, home maintenance, and childcare, especially one that is under the control of the Court, neither parent should be taking out unapproved sums of money – period (oh and PS Jon, even if you only did take out $22,000 in the past week, that’s generally considered a lot of money!) Individual separate incomes from appearances and book deals are not at issue here, they are irrelevant and are not part of the joint funds at issue (although Jon seems pretty eager to point at Kate’s book income as money he is also entitled to, but he doesnt seem to be offering up any of the money he is making on appearance fees and hosting gigs to her.)
Bottom line, these people should just keep their arguments in the courtroom. And Jon should get himself a lawyer who is licenesed in Pennsylvania and who knows that regardless of how much money he thinks his client should get, if a judge says leave it alone you leave it alone!

I didn’t get to read all of the comments written….way too many to read. However, of those that I read so far, there is one that I totally agreed with. Let us remember that BOTH parents here have a huge level of responsibility. There was a time when they loved each other enough to go through all the medial procedures to bring their kids into this world.
I am sure that I am not the only one who has seen endless celebs’ marriages fall apart after been in front of the cameras 24/7…..Jessica and Nick for one. So why do they feel that they would have been so different? My goodness, they have 8 kids to think about….where the hell would they have time to study cameras and hair and make-up? Both Kate and Jon both need kicks in the pants for their stupid actions!
Now with Jon telling the world that the kids are being exploited is crazy…..it was unhealthy then and it’s more unhealthy now because they are older, go to school and most likely have kids telling them that they have shitty greedy parents!

The reason why we don’t get to see what Kate does, when it’s her turn to leave the house, is because she goes into hiding. TLC makes sure that “their star” doesn’t get caught doing anything and that include having dinner alone with her bodyguard. It was reported that she bought a condo in Maryland, down the street from the bodyguard’s office. I don’t know if it’s true or not.
No one can tell me that Kate doesn’t go anywhere, when she’s alone, because, when single mothers are alone, they take the opportunity to do things without the children, like to the movies, eat out with friends, etc. How can Kate relate to single mothers, if she doesn’t do things that single mothers do?

Does anyone remember when the two of them were together and what a *itch she was to John all the time. I remember watching that and couldn’t believe how awful and controlling she was. Now that he has got a backbone people think that she is the poor girl dealing with this. Honey YOU made this happen!!!! John may be acting out but all the viewers saw the emotional and mental abuse she put him thru with the belittling infront of the world and in the stores, etc. You cannot tell me that this woman hasn’t put money away and is putting the dirty laundry out there to try to look like the poor little momma. We are watching the tragic end of a family because of television and money. TLC should film a show in 10 years…Jon and Kate plus 8 10 years later. The effects of the public divorce and the pimping of these very young children will be horrible. Its terrible that people are picking sides…Jon is bad…kate is a *itch; projecting your own personal failures in relationships into this situation blinds you to the only real victims…these kids.
