The Vatican is taking a strong stance against the themes in the Twilight Saga, E! News reports. “This film is nothing more than a moral vacuum with a deviant message and as such should be of concern,” warns the Vatican’s culture council leader, Monsignor Franco Perazzolo, in a recent statement. This is not the first time the Vatican has turned against novels with supernatural elements. They have also expressed their opinions on J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series and Dan Brown’s work The DaVinci Code. It’s no surprise that Stephenie Meyer’s bloodsuckers are on the chopping block.
“This theme of vampires in Twilight combines a mixture of excesses that, as ever, is aimed at young people and gives a heavy esoteric element,” Monsignor Perazzolo adds.
The Volturi vampire scene in New Moon was shot in Italy in the Tuscan town of Montepulciano. The scene took five days to shoot.
Looks like the Pope won’t be taking a side in the great debate of Team Jacob vs. Team Edward!
Hahaha..I’m a Catholic and an obsessed Twilight fan too! I just think this is silly! Honestly, so what if they condemn Twilight? They’re not Jesus Christ, and He certainly did not choose them! They are VOTED by the people to be there. They’re not a bunch of HOLY Sinless people. I’m sure the Pope and them have sins and to perceive them or the Pope as Jesus Christ is just WRONG. That’s what the 2nd law in the 10 Commandments told Catholics NOT to do..to worship another person. They are human beings and certainly FAR below the level of Jesus Christ and God Almighty. They can’t perform INSTANT miracle like Jesus, otherwise they might as well heal every person with AIDS and Cancer in the world.
Honestly, if they think their comment can change the world,they’re wrong. Look at what they did to Harry Potter. Nothing changed. Teenagers do realize that this is JUST a fantasy story .It’s not as if we’re going to find a Vampire. The Vatican council should be happy! Edward Cullen is a strong-headed VIRGIN. The fact that almost every FEMALE in this entire world LOVE him just show appreciation towards Virgin Male. Isn’t this the opposite view to typical men we see everyday?
