Nicole Kidman has upset neighbors around her 140-acre Australian estate by planting cypress leylandii trees  — that can grow up to 65 feet high and 26 feet wide — to shield her home from onlookers.

Nicole's Bunya Hill estate is a five-bedroom property, built in the 1870s about 60 miles south west of Sydney. It is worth $6 million, reports the UK's Daily Telegraph.

The Nine actress lives in Nashville with husband Keith Urban, but has boosted security there ahead of her sister Antonia's upcoming wedding to the financier Craig Marran.

Locals are also upset by a green nylon fence erected by the main gate and an earth mound built to shield the property from the main road.

Greg Barnsley, 49, whose property borders Bunya Hill said residents didn't want the area ruined by the over-sized trees.

"They grow to an enormous height," Mr Barnsley said. "Yes these ones are small now but they are going to be huge."

"They are out of character with the area, they are not even Australian natives.

"We respect that Nicole wants her privacy but if she wants trees let them be Australian ones."

The couple and their 18-month old daughter Sunday Rose are currently in Australia, staying in Sydney with Nicole's parents Anthony and Janelle.
