layla_grace_mar1newsCelebrities and bloggers all over the Web have been deeply moved by the story of Layla Grace, a two-year-old battling stage-four neuroblastoma. The family of five from Texas has been enduring the unbearable, as they watch their youngest member struggle with the awful disease. But they are not alone. Layla’s mom created a Twitter account, and now more than 23,000 followers are being updated daily on little Layla Grace’s condition.

Support from the Internet has provided the family with a small about of solace.

Layla Grace’s parents find support and comfort on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Parents across the country and celebrities like Ryan Seacrest, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton and Giuliana Rancic are among those urging others to keep Layla in their prayers.

“Just spoke w/ the mother of 2yr old @laylagrace who is in her final days of battling cancer. Keep her in our prayers,” Ryan Tweeted recently.

The latest Tweets from @LaylaGrace are getting more heartwrenching to read: ”Hospice came & increased her morphine. She is still in pain at the moment. Hoping it starts working soon.”

While the details of Layla’s difficult struggle draw supporters and prayers, the family photos and memories Layla’s mother shares really connect people across the Twitterverse and Web to feel close to this little girl fighting for her life.

“I can’t believe the # of emails I’m receiving from ppl who submitted her story 2 Oprah & Ellen! What a platform that would b 4 awareness!,” Layla’s mom Tweeted today.

As a mother of a 1 year old little girl, I am astounded at the strength of Layla’s parents and wish them all the best as they go through this horrific ordeal. Why are her parents approaching people like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian?

    Isn’t death a private matter?

Shouldn’t they respect their dying girl a little more than spending all their time on twitter trying to get the attention of celebrities?

    • Aisha says:

Fadedyouthblog, if you had taken the time to actually read their blog rather then jumping to conclusions, you would see that the reason they are on twitter and facebook is to raise awareness for this horrible disease! Did you know that neuroblastoma is the most common childhood cancer? The majority of people don’t, hence the need for someone to speak out about it. They started to use twitter to update their friends and family and to ask for prayers rather than having to talk about it over and over again. Because I think you would agree that taking 30 seconds to write a tweet is much less than time than answering a million calls a day.

And as fas as them approaching celebrities, shame on you again for judging and jumping to conclusions. I do believe that the last time I checked, even celebrities are human and can be touched by a story. The internet, as you would know (you DO have a blog I see) has a way of bringing the world closer together. If a celebrity wants to use their influence to make someone’s story heard, then more power to them. It should not be taken to mean that someone approached them. The prayers that this little girl is getting from the thousands of followers are giving this family the strength and support that they so desperately need…and here you are wanting to deprive them of it! You say death is a private matter? Well, then let’s go tell all the people in Haiti and Chile, in Darfur and Iraq, “Sorry, we can’t help you…death is private so you’re on your own.”

God forbid you are ever in this situation. If you are, you might want to crawl into a hole so that we don’t disturb your private matter.

Unless you have been in their shoes, don’t be so hard-hearted!!
they LOVE their dying angel. If they can raise awareness of this horrible disease, don’t you think Layla would want that?? Maybe prevent some other baby from going thru what she is?? Have a heart!! Pray for her.

    • amberoscar says:

IF YOU HAVE NOT NOTICED THAT THEY ARE DOING THIS TO GET THE PRAYERS AND ARE HOPING FOR A MIRLCE. YOU MUSY NOT HAVE ANY CLUE THEY ARE ALSO REACHING OUT FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND DONATIONS. WOW YOU MUST HAVE A PRETTY DARK HEART TO REPLLY TO A FAMILY THAT IS IN NEED.

    • halecjaclyn says:

the celebrities approached them, get your facts straight before judging.

This childs struggle and battle can be for something if the awarness brings more research and funding that will find a cure. The strength her parents have comes from the Holy Spirit. May they continue to feel His comfort and strength at this difficult time and through out their journey. We live in a fallen world and this is simply put some of the worst of it. Praise God we have an eternal life to look forward to-just help us support oneanother thru this the shortest part of our lives.

The Marsh family are genuine in their sharing their story on twitter, which by the way started out as updates on Layla’s illness between friends and family. It was friends that shared the story with the twitterverse. This form of cancer that Layla has is apparently detectable at birth. Awareness is needed!

Friends of the family started fundraising because the Marsh family quickly exhausted their personal finances on expenses that their medical insurance doesn’t cover. Over $100,000 of medical expenses accumulated and still growing! Bad enough to lose a child but then to be financially paralyzed … no parent should have to go through that.

Friends of the Marsh family, designers and handcrafters across this content are pitching in to raise money to help this family and Cancer awareness. Leave a comment here at the link below if you are doing any fundraising for Layla Grace or if you want to help and “shop for Layla” by buying a handmade item where proceeds are being donated to the family.

Other ways you can help is PRAY for a miracle, they do happen, and by spreading the word of Layla Grace ’s neuroblastoma. http://www.laylagrace.org For many of us mothers and grandmothers, we can not help but think, “But for the Grace of God, go I”. Hence, twitter’s @payitfourward for anyway that we / you can help.

  12. K says:

I emailed Ellen through her website, as I am sure many others have contacted outlets. The family has many friends who have networked to get the awareness of Neuroblastoma out. This is not about the parents, it’s about the children and preventing what they are going through. Everyone deals with the end of life differently and this is their way. RESPECT them for what they are doing.

  13. N.Vasquez says:

    Parents just updated on twitter:
Layla went to play with the angels early this morning. Rest in peace precious Layla. 11/26/2007 – 3/9/2010
