OK! caught up with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest on Saturday, who dished on who he thinks may win the competition, what’s in store for the season to come, and his relationship with the soon to be married Simon Cowell.
“Casey, Lee, or Crystal!” Ryan revealed his winner predictions for AI at Wango Tango, “It’s going to be interesting to see what happens this week because I think a lot of girls are voting for Casey and if he has an off night, will they continue to vote because they think he’s cute?…I think that the best voices are Lee and Crystal.”
And, with the infamous judge Simon leaving to work on his own show, Ryan confirms that he’ll definitely be there to support.

“I think Simon wants me to be there for moral support in the audience! He gets a little nervous without me. It’s true!,” Ryan told OK!.
Needing a replacement for Simon on American Idol, Ryan discussed who he thinks would be good for the job.
“I would love for him to be on the show! Two radio guys! I’m a radio guy,” Ryan spoke of Howard Stern and even 89-year-old Betty White, “We did not put her on the list but I like that idea!”

While the show decides who will be next at the judges table, Ryan is thinking of what to buy Simon for his upcoming wedding to Mezhgan Hussainy.
“That’s a great question! I’m thinking a statue – a sculpture of me – that he could put in his courtyard with running water. No, but seriously. It’s impossible to get him anything. He does have – and this is embarrassing – but he loves teddy bears and so he’s got stuffed animals on his bed! I might get him a Care Bear.”
Joking that Ryan will be hosting the nuptials, there may even be a chance that he finds love in the future.
“Yes, there’s a chance! I don’t know who, but there’s a chance.”
That’s all nice to hear!

They are really going out of their way to try and dismiss Casey James. He must be a real thread to the favourites.
I am so sick of American Idol’s constant manipulations! It’s laughable that they are trying so hard to make us believe that Lee is this amazing vocalist when in reality he is a poor man’s David Cook that can’t sing in tune! Casey James outsings Lee any day of the week. American Idol has treated Casey like a piece of meat since the beginning. If they would have done this to a female contestant people would be outraged! Well I for one haven’t fallen for their BS! Go Casey!
So now Ryan is also pimping Crystal and Lee who is pitchy, forgets words, no stage presence or charisma and can’t even sing in tune. I think Casey will surprise a lot of people this week and kick a$$! Casey for the win!
Since Lee can’t sing on tune live and is a fail in the personality department, what are they going to do with him on tour? Autotune his numbers? Synching? Lee was my fav when I first heard his raspy kind of voice, but, boy, it’s been downhill ever since. And Crystal’s really good, but her personality is not particularly inviting, and her style of singing is constricted – been there, done that. Casey’s the only one of the three with enough of the requirements for a winner – distinctive voice, terrific guitar skills, good looking, pleasing personality. (His live Texas performances bode well for a promising career.) And the prospect of a Lee/Crystal finale doesn’t exactly get the blood going.
So disappointed in Ryan. He’s insulting a lot of Casey fans when he says girls are voting for Casey because he’s cute. I’m 61, a long way from a ‘girl’, and I have been a Casey fan since Hollywood week. I like Casey’s voice, his style of music, his amazing guitar skills, his humble and appreciative attitude, and his look. And men and women both gravitate toward Casey. It’s also been my observation from the sites I visit that Lee is getting more of the teen vote.
Ryan should be ashamed of stereotyping and pigeon-holing Casey supporters like that.
Casey’s talent is undeniable. Go check out this past weekend’s appearances at the Keys Lounge on youtube and see for yourselves. He is incredible.
Seacrest I can SEE right through you. We all know who pays your gazillion $ paycheck and you’ll parrot the wishes of TPTB like a good little boy. You’re as useless as Ellen. And as far as Casey having an off night will he gets the votes b/c he’s cute? Insulting! Lee was WAY WAY WAY off last week and yet he made it through. And yet you call that good vocals? Well you keep pimping Lee and when he sells less albums then Taylor Hicks and Casey James is topping the charts and you’re kissing his butt to get him on your show remember we told you he was great.
Now Ryan has hopped on the bus ready to roll over Casey James. The ONLY contestant left with any chance of making it in the music industry. He has been playing and signing for years in bars and clubs up and down the East Coast if that doesn’t give you experience nothing ever will.
Casey has been objectified all season would you do that to a female contestant NEVER. He took his shirt off in the audition big deal he was caught up in the moment and wanted that Golden ticket. Was that any reason to continue that BS all season and make his good looks a deterrent instead of a plus.
LEE CAN”T SING ON KEY no matter how you spin it, but I think he will do what TPTB say and be the perfect little forgotten Idol or runner up. Casey seems to have a mind of his own maybe that’s the problem not his looks.
what’s so exciting about lee/crystal finale? it’s a sure win for crystal! Lee can’t sing in tune to save his life. Casey is a better contender and can give crystal a run for her money.
I’m not sure why the Idol execs are overlooking Casey. He has amazing vocals and his guitar playing is unbelieveable. He is the complete package. Do a youtube search for his homecoming concerts and you will be treated to some impressive performances.
As far as Casey being “cute”, I have never seen a performer be so discriminated against because he is good looking. If that offends so many people, maybe they should just close their eyes and give him an honest listen. Actually, do the same to Lee. Just listen to him and don’t listen to the pimping of the judges. You’ll be surprised what he can’t do!
Ryan, you should be ashamed of yourself. You must be deaf or dumb . . or both in this case. Casey James has more talent than Lee and Crystal together and you are no different than the other judges. You guys try to sway people in the direction you want them to vote and it has been Lee and Crystal for quite some time. I hope it backfires in a big way. GO CASEY! I am so disappointed in the politics of AI.
I encourage people to listen to Casey’s pre-Idol music, studio versions and homecoming videos to actually know the kind of musician he is.
He so deserves where he is right now and even more.
The judges and now Ryan seem to desperately ignore his talent. Casey being good looking has been the sole reason what many people think why his fans are voting for him.
As a voter, his voice was what drew me to him. I believe a REAL AMERICAN IDOL is one who has it all and Casey is obviously the one.
The campaign to throw Casey under the bus is disgusting especially when he has the whole package:, good vocals which are actually on pitch, fantastic guitar skills and other instruments, sweet personality. My fave since Hollywood week and not even considering his good looks which usually are a big plus for any entertainer. It has amazed me that none of the judges have EVEN NOTICED that Lee (who I do like) is very seldom on pitch. Just how will he do in concerts when he is off pitch 60% of the time? Will he be lip synching or what? l;ast week’s Lee’s performance was the worst of the whole season, IMO. Of course, we are led to believe that he just arrived from out behind the paint store counter when actually he has made 2 CD’s which haven’t sold well at all. Why the promotion and pimping of Lee this season – is my question?
Wow Ryan, you must really think idol viewers are a bunch of idiots. I like Casey because I think he is the best SINGER of the bunch. I happen to have enough sense and taste to tell the difference between good music and good looks. Casey’s falsetto is amazing and I really hope he lets loose and shows everyone on Tuesday. I guess Casey is so much of a threat to the chosen 2 that the judges’ pimping is no long enough and you must join in too. You guys are going to drive away all your viewers if you keep this up. I agree. I’m so sick of seeing someone as talented as Casey being thrown under the bus by this show. He has a distinctive voice that records well, and blends southern rock, country and blues with great guitar skills. People should check out the Keys Lounge performance if they think he doesn’t have stage presence, star quality and kickin’ vocals – his Homecoming concert blew everyone away.
wow. this blatant pimping is disgusting! I am sooo sick of the way they treat Casey! Casey is a fantastic singer and musician!! I mean why bother with the formality of having people vote if they are ready to crown the chosen ones?? Does America really need to be told why they vote and who the “best” is?? Its really so sad to read stuffs like this and this is coming from a neutral person who hardly even watches American Idol(mostly read blogs). Why should someone say that casey’s fans vote even if he has a bad week.I thought last week,Lee was the worst of the top 4,so why is he still there? That fact shouldn’t be ignored should it? And to my knowledge,teens are not even voting for Casey. I like all top 3 because they are all good. But to be frank, I am now thinking of voting only for Casey because I don’t like what is being done to him. Its like these people want him out at all cost and are willing to do whatever it takes. Its really really sad!!!
Come on Ryan, let’s be honest. When Lee or Crystal have an “off night”, their fans obviously continue to vote for them just as much as Casey’s fans…that’s how they all made it to the top 3…loyal fans. The incessant implications that Casey is only successful because of his looks are insulting to Casey and his fans.
As a musician and a singer myself, I say that Ryan Seacrest is a tool and a fool, and so is American Idol (including those lame judges)….Seacrest wouldn’t know REAL talent or a great voice if it bit him in the a$$!! All Seacrest knows about is ‘pop’ talent, not real talent….he knows nothing about true musicianshp and artistry or about a great voice!! Right you are Dan – truer words never spoken. Casey is too good for this getting-lamer-by-the-minute-pop show. They can’t recognize a true artist when they HEAR it.
This is the first time that I have seen someone in the music industry get bashed for being good looking, and it is certainly quite amusing. Usually being good looking in the music industry is an advantage!
But in truth Casey doesn’t even need that advantage he is an excellent singer and musician, the fact that he is good looking just adds to his overall package.
One of the best singers to ever perform on AI was Melinda Doolittle in Season 6. But she was trashed because she didn’t have the “right” look. Now they tear somebody apart because they are too good looking? The judges have consistently contradicted themselves from week to week this year. Kara needs an ass-booting. She is high school catty with some of her nasty remarks to both Casey and Tim. Ellen was ok at first but now she’s useless. It is so annoying how Casey has already been totally discounted in this competition. Well, GO CASEY!-I’ll be voting my ass of and I’m old enough to be his mama.
Do they think people out here are just stupid and can’t hear? I am a vocal coach, and Casey is by far a better singer than Lee. He has better phrasing with more sensitivity and a strong sense of pitch and sings in tune all the time (which is a pretty basic requirement for singing!)
I am sick of the insults about girls voting for Casey because of his looks. What about Lee? Most of Lee’s fans are female! Lee has zero stage presence.
As another poster pointed out, he is a “poor man’s David Cook”. A very poor man. The David Cook comparisons are actually quite amusing to me. David was hitting high B’s and C’s and singing with beautiful, spinning vibrato, and reworking songs (which Lee hasn’t done yet) and had a dramatic sense that was in another league.
Casey can’t get the judges on his side for anything – if he rocks it, he is a wannabe, and copycat. When he sings how they want him to, they put down his vibrato and are downright rude and not the least bit constructive. (especially Kara)
He hasn’t gotten a fair shake on the show… but then again, maybe they are actually pushing for a surprise. Evoking backfiring..? who knows what this show is up to! As for me, they have lost me. I won’t watch again after they way they have treated Casey.
I guess Crystal’s not the only Idol to be betrayed by Seacrest this year. This show is about to manipulate itself right off the air. Good riddance.
