Haitian Orphans Cheer for Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie was met with cries of "Angie, Angie" when she visited an SOS Villages camp for orphans outside the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince yesterday.
No sooner had Angelina quashed rumors of discord between her and Brad Pitt with displays of PDA on Super Bowl Sunday, than she flew to the stricken nation for two days of meetings with Haiti earthquake victims in her role as a Goodwill Ambassador for the U.N. refugee agency.
The actress, representing the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, met with U.N. officials in Port-au-Prince and visited the camp where the orphans cheered her, reports Pop Eater.
Angelina also toured a Doctors Without Borders hospital in a Port-au-Prince suburb, waving to onlookers. She and Brad have contributed $1 million to the organization's work in Haiti.
On Wednesday, Angelina planned to visit the southern city of Jacmel, a camp for people who lost their homes in the magnitude 7.0 earthquake, as well as a Save the Children relief supply center before returning to Port-au-Prince and leaving for the neighboring Dominican Republic.
