Last night I was slated to attend NYLON Magazine’s party at Foxtail to celebrate their American Issue –for which they chose Paris Hilton as the cover girl. Quite a sad state of affairs if Paris Hilton is meant to epitomize ‘the All-American girl,’ but for better or worse I suppose she’s so all-American she was volleyed by the presidential candidates more than any American other than maybe Joe the Plumber. Her surprisingly longtime beau Benji Madden was by her side to celebrate as was sister Nicky Hilton with her boyfriend David Katzenberg and Emile Hirsch. The stars kept energized sipping the caffeine and guarana-infused P.I.N.K Vodka cocktails and danced all night to tunes spun by DJ AM. I missed it.
I also had marked on the calendar to make at least an appearance at Ubisoft’s Shaun White Snowboarding Video Game launch to hang with my friend Corinne Kaplan – who’s kicking butt and taking names on the current season of Survivor! And I meant to congratulate Lacey Schwimmer who last night found out she and her partner Lance Bass made it to the semi-finals on Dancing With The Stars’s before she came to the party, but alas…
After my Tuesday night massage I whipped up a little stir fry (the first real dish I’ve taught myself how to cook since moving to LA and having a kitchen) and called it a night.
That leaves me refreshed for tonight when I’m going to an event David Arquette and Courtney Cox are hosting at STK LA for their inaugural Feeding America Entertainment Council campaign “Fill A Bowl, Feed America” and then by Vogue’s store opening party for Alberta Ferretti, hosted by Ellen Pompeo and Lucy Lui. Yippee. Report back tomorrow ;) xo
One of only two people that ever would or could (and has) made me the slightest bit star struck is David Bowie. I grew up in a house where my mom had a poster of him hung in her home office and his music played in our house regularly - during the day, while my dad was at work. Made sense that I’d either love him or hated him when given the choice and I went the former.
The first of several times I met his wife Iman I thought, “Wow, this woman is so lucky to be married to the legend that is David Bowie.” It only took a couple of minutes in her presence for me to change my opinion to, “Wow, David Bowie is so fortunate to be married to such a magnificent woman!” Iman is one of the most brilliant, elegant and radiant women I have ever had the privilege of meeting and speaking to. When I asked her the key to getting done all that she does she told me, “I get massages, often.”
Ever since I’ve started adopting her massage policy, aiming for twice a month when I can – and I must say, getting a massage is one of the finer things in life. Since we live in days when even I’m guilty of bringing my blackberry to the gym, and looking at it between laps on the treadmill, in the one place that used to be my sanctuary away from it, massages have become one last true escape.
PS: Kind of surprised the Dec. Vogue stooped to taking a comment Jennifer Aniston made about Angelina Jolie out of context and using it as a cover line to sell magazines. I thought Vogue was classier, like OK! ;) xoxo
Some people get stumped when asked their favorite Hollywood couple but in today’s culture of celebrity news everywhere -the best being in OK! ;) – everyone knows so much about the Brad and Angelina’s, Tom and Katie’s, Lindsay and Samantha and Madonna and A-Rod’s of the world that you’re bound to have an opinion. My favorite couple is/was Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Yes, I’m also a fan of The Notebook, but besides that, these two are, in my personal interaction, as cool people in real-life as in the film. They’re both beautiful, talented, laid-back people that just emanate a positive glow, even stronger when they’re together.
Although they recent called it quits, again, this time four months after caught-on-camera PDA confirmed they were together again (they met on the 2004 set of "The Notebook" and split in 2007), don't close the book on them yet, there is still hope that the life imitating art couple could reconcile, again. It’s recently come to my attention that that Rachel's younger sister Kayleen is actually dating Ryan's DJ partner Zach Shields. The DJ duo, who call themselves Dead Mans Bones, play a regular gig exclusively at celeb haunt Bardot and sources tell me "Ryan loves music and they're going start bringing in their friends to play and a bunch of new music acts." I’m also told, "Zach and Kayleen are going steady, so she's around a lot." Ryan and Rachel claim, again, to have called it off, again, due to 'very busy schedules.' Hopefully one day Rachel's schedule will be clear enough for her to join her sister as a DJ groupie at Bardot.
Isn’t it supposed to be a day of rest? I’d like to rest – in my jammies on the couch watching Desperate Housewives as I finish making my way through the sections of the Sunday papers. But, no. I blog as I procrastinate primping for a quick appearance at a Paper Magazine dinner honoring Danny Masterson and Bijou Phillips at Shin, the Korean barbecue restaurant Danny co-owns with a mix of celebs including his brother Chris Masterson and Gerard Butler, then I have to dash down the street to make it in time for the after party for Hamilton and Hollywood Life’s Behind the Camera Awards. Ryan Phillipe, Harrison Ford, Anne Hathaway and Lucy Lui are among the who’s who of expected guests. Ok, I’m going…Will report back tomorrow, when I have to wake up at 5:15am to close the party pages of another issue of OK! But, I vent, not complain, there are worse problems than too much to do and too little time ;) xo
