The Beijing Olympics might be almost over, but the build-up to the 2012 London games has already begun.

David Beckham took to his official blog today and revealed that while his L.A. soccer team the Galaxy has the weekend off, he'll be flying to Beijing to attend the official handover ceremony. The Olympic torch will be passed on to the city of London on Sunday at the end of the game.

He writes: "I’m honoured to be invited and, as someone who is passionate about the Olympics coming to my home city, I’m incredibly proud to be part of the ceremony on Sunday. I’ll let you know how it goes next week."
