Malan's Musings: Fashion Friday Is Here!

Once upon a time, there was a gala, one where even Cinderella would be jealous of the glamour and beauty that was present. The event, the Met Gala. Celebrating two of my icons, Prada and Schiaparelli.
Darlings, every season I choose one designer that I feel emulates glamour! Emulates beauty! One who is sincerely the epitome of designers grown from generations past. The iconic designers that we celebrate at this gala!
I think in this era of fashion, there is no need to seek out the next McQueen, the next Adrian, the next Charles James. One so genius already exists, and his name is ZAC POSEN! Leslie Bibb, in the most stunning midnight gown, with a stunning sweetheart and peplum, Genius!!! Nancy O'Dell in a STUNNING crimson gown with fluted train, and the winner of the night Amber Heard in the most architecturally brilliant gown any designer has created since, Zac Posen's Oscar dress worn by Gwyneth Paltrow at the 2007 award ceremony!
I applaud the figure forming gowns that brought back glimpses of Hollywood's yesteryear. Those like Renee Zellweger in a geometric Emilio Pucci, Beyonce in skin revealing plumes via Givenchy, and my darling Brooke Shields in J. Mendel.
Cate Blanchett's gown, though beautiful, resembled a feather duster. Chloe Sevigny looked lovely in vintage inspired Prada. Darlings the Titanic will set sail again, and Kirsten Dunst is dressed suitably for its Christening, or perhaps ready for Halloween costumed as a Olive Oil.
Sarah Jessica Parker looked gorgeous in Valentino that felt retro 1977, but the shackles on her wrists, darlings!?! Is it boudoir couture? SJP gives us dominatrix chic. The contrast of pretty petal and the roughness of the cuffs is genius! I simply adore Jessica Alba, but this dress...YAWN!!! I have seen it in every Halston, retro collection since 1983.
I have never seen Hilary Swank look more beautiful, Brava darling, this is Michael Kors at his best! I simply adore Scarlett Johansson in this embroidered Dolce & Gabbana, I think Scarlett has found her go to designer, every Dolce & Gabbana I have ever seen her in has been AMAZING! I simply wish you could see the beautiful deep back-line of Rihanna's Tom Ford Gown, it was stunning! I adore his use of the embossed Alligator fabric, I have used it in my Fall 2011 women's collection, and it is one of my favourite textures. BEAUTIFUL!!!
Darlings, I could go on for days about the women, but the men looked truly dapper, men's fashion has taken note, and everyone from Nick Jonas, to Darren Criss, looked utterly handsome. Again I ask who is styling, the silky voiced crooner, Bruno Mars? Though handsome, his tuxedo looks as if it were rented at the local prom tuxedo shop for the evening at the discount price of 27.95 USD.
The most handsome of all, my winner of the evening, the one who wore their suit best. Coco Rocha, in a vintage Givenchy once worn by Elizabeth Taylor. I cannot put into words how beautiful she looked! Not to mention I adore both Hubert and Elizabeth Taylor, this was a brilliant pr move for the stunning supermodel. I sincerely hope to see her on the silver screen very soon! Congratulations to Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli on a wonderful exhibit of deep contrast, the concept behind this exhibit is OMD's! GENIUS!
Darlings, I simply had to say something about Mary-Kate Olsen's gown, and it is this... Think silent screen actress circa 1922, perhaps a Gloria Swanson, Metropolis style, though not for everyone, I love it, I just wish it fit her properly.
Well darlings until next week I wish you love and glamour.
