Author of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' E. L. James Talks Ryan Gosling Casting Rumors
Ever since news broke that the best-selling erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey would be turned into a movie, rumors have been flying as to who would bring characters Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey to life on film, and Ryan Gosling's name of course has been thrown around.
And why not? The hunky actor is not only one of Hollywood's best leading men, but he heated up the big screen in the romantic drama The Notebook and it seems like he'd be the perfect choice.
But author E.L James says don't get too excited. Nothing has been set in stone and she won't even confirm if the hearsay is true.
She told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show, "As usual, it's all been misreported."
She explains what really took place.
"What happened is that his local paper ... reported on my husband being the inspiration for Christian Grey. Underneath it, they put a picture of Ryan Gosling as well. So, that's how that [rumor] came about."
Fans are dying to see her sexual and tantalizing characters who engage in S & M on screen soon, but she refuses to comment on who she thinks should be cast.
"It gets messy," she said. "You might end up with somebody else [other than who I suggested]," she told E!,
James still can't believe her new found fame.
"All this has been a huge shock to me," she said. "When I got the first email asking about the film rights, I nearly fell off my chair; it was a huge Hollywood agency!"
While she's currently on a busy book tour, the writer already has another project lined up.
"It's an erotic novel, yes," she revealed. "I want to get it out of my head."
Who do you want to see play Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey?
