'Bachelorette' Contestant Julien Hug Found Dead
Family and friends have reportedly identified a body found on Wednesday in a remote area in Riverside County, Calif. to be that of the former Bachelorette contestant Julien Hug. He was 35 years old.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Julien, son of San Diego restaurateurs Bertrand and Denise Hug, was found dead in an area off of state Route 74.
Julien appeared on ABC's The Bachelorette in May 2009 competing for Jillian Harris.
Melissa Nieburger, Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy, said the cause of death is under investigation. Julien's body was found around 11 a.m. near Pinyon Pines, which is an area "you would need to hike into," Nieburger explained.
A missing person report for Julien was reportedly filed on Monday after he was not seen since leaving San Diego for Palm Desert.
Fellow Bachelorette contestant, Kiptyn Locke, said it was "crushing news" when he heard of his death on Wednesday night and said they had kept in touch since the show.
Julien was “one of the most positive, standout people I have met," Kyptyn said. "He was always trying to help other people. From the very first time I met him, he was just a very selfless guy."
