NEWSEmmys Grab Highest Ratings in Three Years

Thanks in part to singing and dancing host Neil Patrick Harris and the lure of TV's best and brightest celebrities decked out in their glitziest finery, the Primetime Emmy Awards garnered their best ratings in three years, Reuters reports, with more than 13 million Americans tuning in.
However even with that big number for CBS -- up eight percent over last year's awards -- the ceremony was dwarfed by the popularity of NFL football on NBC.

Most of the credit for this year's high ratings is going to Neil, who opened the show with a comic song called "Put down the Remote."
Jon Stewart even praised NPH during the show, saying, "You're doing a wonderful job," while collecting an award for The Daily Show. "You're tremendous. And these shows they usually suck."
