Green Day Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong Rushed to the Hospital in Italy
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was rushed to the hospital in Bologna, Italy this weekend due to an undisclosed medical condition.
The rockers were scheduled to perform in the city on Sunday but were forced to cancel, per the doctor's orders.
The band's drummer, Tre Cool, and bassist Mike Dirnt, filmed a spot and uploaded the video to their website apologizing to their Italian fans.
"Obviously, we apologize profusely, this is really unfortunate. Billy got rushed to the hospital last night due to illness, and the doctors don’t think it’s a good idea for him to play today," they said. "This sucks. We really, really were looking forward to playing in Bolognia. It’s the highlight of our tour."
As of Tuesday, Billie is on the mend as the band prepares for their next show on Sept. 21 in Las Vegas.
Green Day is set to relase three studio albums, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré!, within four months of each other this fall. ¡Uno! will be released on Sept. 25.
Big time Billie fans can also look forward to seeing him as Team Christina Aguilera's mentor on this season's The Voice.
