Jimmy Ellis, "Disco Inferno" Singer, Dies at 74
Jimmy Ellis, the famous voice behind the '70s anthem "Disco Inferno" and lyrics of "burn, baby, burn" passed away yesterday. He was 74.
Jimmy was the lead singer of the band The Trammps which skyrocketed to success with their R&B singles.
In fact, "Disco Inferno" was featured on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and helped catapult it to 15 million albums sold — the second highest soundtrack ever! The only one that was more popular? The Bodyguard.
Up until 2010, the band toured together performing their classic hits from back in the day.
According to The New York Times, he died of complications from Alzheimer's Disease. He is survived by his wife, son, three brothers, a sister, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
