The predictably pretty and affable Kate Beckinsale covers the August issue of Allure and spends a great deal of time talking to the beauty magazine about her conflicted views concerning her appearance.

"I didn’t feel very attractive as a child, and actually I wasn’t. Feeling attractive didn’t come until I was 29 and with husband Len Wiseman," she says.

"Maybe it has to do with not having had a dad. I’d never experienced a father saying, ‘Oh, you look good,'" she continues. "If you have a good relationship with your dad, you have a chaperone in your own mind."

As you probably remember, Kate was voted Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive in 2009, so clearly her (perceived) ugly duckling streak reversed itself with a vengeance.

“I think the risk of being 'the sexiest woman alive' is that you don’t want to ever have sex again. You don’t want to wear a bikini again. You want to wear some nice overalls and a trucker’s hat,“ she deadpans. "Anyway, you’re only that for a year, and then you’re done. You’re old news. I don’t know who it is right now, but it’s not me."

Kate co-stars with Jessica Biel and Colin Farrell in this month's Total Recall. Conveniently, her husband Len is the director, and cast her in a role he lovingly described as "psycho wife."

That being said, she was almost cast as the "three-breasted hooker."

"I'm so glad that I didn't do that. I mean, she gets more attention than Jessica or me put together," she told MTV.com. "My daughter would die. She'd be so mad at me, going into eighth grade, if I was walking around with three boobs all the time. She'd be really annoyed."
