Nicki Minaj Set To Join Mariah Carey As New 'American Idol' Judge
It's going to be a diva-filled Season 12 of American Idol as Nicki Minaj is apparently joining Mariah Carey on the judging panel of the hit singing competition.
Us Weekly reports that the "Super Bass" rapper is "100% confirmed" to be on the Fox series.
"I'm not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it," one insider revealed. "A few more slight things to sign off on, but it is happening."
The Trinidad-born star has a busy schedule ahead as she is just about to start a world tour — kicking off on Oct. 21 in Nottingham, England.
Nicki toured with Britney Spears in 2011 and her latest album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, debuted at No. 1 last April.
Mariah is reportedly being paid $18 million for her services and signed on when Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler vacated their spots after two seasons.
Boy band singer Nick Jonas, 19, is said to be the hot favorite to complete the judging lineup. Original cast member Randy Jackson is going to be taking on a "mentoring role" for the contestants.
