Nicki Minaj's 'American Idol' Deal is Delayed, Some Fox Producers Don't Want Her
While it was reported earlier this week that Nicki had been handpicked as one of the next judges of American Idol, it seems there are some delays within Fox. Sources say more than one producer think the Starships singer is a bad choice.
For starters, Nicki is rumored to be a diva, says a source close to the show. Additionally, she also has a complicated relationship with Creative Artist's Agency, the team who happen to rep the show's host, Ryan Seacrest.
Nicki was once repped by CAA but fired the agency about nine months ago, leading an insider to assume that inking a deal with the singer will be incredibly difficult.
One party who's likely not to be losing sleep over the contract delay is Mariah Carey.
On the contrary, she's probably celebrating the news as its rumored Mimi is none too pleased to share the spotlight with a younger woman. A source from Fox says the Grammy award winning entertainer slammed the phone in disgust when she heard Nicki was well on her way to inking a judging deal.
