OK! Loves: The Makeup Show LA
My name is Kelly and I am a product junkie. Lipstick, lip gloss, eye shadow, mascara, blush—you name it, I love it. Cosmetics just make me happy. So when The Makeup Show comes to Los Angeles annually to brighten up a dreary winter (okay, not that dreary, this is Southern California), I instantly perk up. Rows and rows of booths lined in an event space filled with makeup brands I love, brands I want to know more about and brands I can’t believe I’ve lived without for this long, not to mention full schedules of makeup demos, workshops and keynote speakers. This is my Shangri-Lah.
Fresh from this year’s fab event, I come bearing my favorite finds from The Makeup Show LA. Behold my latest beauty obsessions…
• Since first discovering EmbryoLisse Lait-Crème Concentre at The Makeup Show a couple of years ago I’ve been in love with the luscious moisturizing lotion that’s rich but doesn’t feel heavy on the face. I’m told makeup artists use it as a primer and a makeup remover, as well as a moisturizer. Simply put, it rocks!
• Jouer Cosmetics has quickly become one of my go-to makeup lines and I was psyched to see them make their Makeup Show debut this year. I live for their Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Peony (a bright pink that pops so beautifully) and Matte Moisture Tint, which provides just the right amount of coverage for evening out my skin tone.
• Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, a 100% vegan and cruelty-free line, has outdone themselves with their Lip Tar, the perfect hybrid of lipstick and lip gloss. My favorite shade is Memento, a pink/plum neutral, but there are dozens of hues ranging from the bold and bright to the universally-flattering neutrals.
• When it comes to getting a regular mani I’m ashamed to admit I’m a total slacker, but Cult Nails Nail Polish in Charming, a sheer, but brilliant, purple with a touch of shimmer, is so pretty it makes me want to take that extra time to at least do a DIY job at home.
