Rihanna Opens Up to Oprah Winfrey About Chris Brown: "I Lost My Best Friend"
The highly anticipated sit down Q and A between Rihanna and Oprah Winfrey airs next Sunday on the OWN network, and the talk show queen revealed a few snippets of the intimate chat with the singer today.
Oprah traveled to Barbados to get a sense of Rihanna in her hometown, and tells viewers Rihanna was much softer than expected.
"I was expecting a badass, a hard-edged rocker woman," Oprah said. "Nothing could be farther from the truth. She was thoughtful, she was very emotional, she was vulnerable... I came away really getting a great sense as to who she was."
Of course Oprah asked about Chris Brown, and Rihanna got teary discussing that violent night in February of 2009, when she and her then boyfriend got into a physical altercation.
"It was embarrassing. It was humiliating. I lost my best friend," she said. "I was resentful. I held a grudge. I was dark."
Chris would later plead guilty to one count of felony assault, which earned him five years of probation and six months of community service.
The two have since reconciled, recorded a track together (the controversial "Birthday Cake") and it has even been rumored that they're dating again.
"When I was in love, I fell so hard. The way it made me feel was priceless," Rihanna told the August issue of Harper's Bazaar. "And in a blink of an eye, my whole life changed. Everything that I knew was different. I never thought I’d feel that pain in my life. I’m afraid of feeling that again."
The whole interview with Rihanna and Oprah Winfrey airs on Sunday, Aug. 19 at 9pm ET on the OWN Network. Check out the teaser below!
