
Ryan Seacrest Opens Up About New 'American Idol' Judge Mariah Carey: She Will "Fit Right In"

Amidst his Olympics reporting gig, producing his daily radio show, and working on E! News, Ryan Seacrest took time out of his busy schedule in London to dish about the latest American Idol news. That is, the addition of Mariah Carey.

He pointed out the differences between Mariah and former judge Jennifer Lopez to The Hollywood Reporter. "Well, they're very different individuals. I think that Mariah will fit right in. She knows the rhythms off this kind of thing. Jennifer had watched a lot of Idol; I'm not such how much Mariah has watched."

He added, "Certainly, she's watched less of the show, which I think is fine. She's pretty open and she doesn't sugarcoat much, at least in my experience with her."
As for his current gig of interviewing athletes in the sports realm, the Idol host quipped, "Olympic athletes are celebrities too, so there are similarities, though athletes are typically a lot taller. (Laughs.)"
