Mary-Kate Off The Hook In Heath Investigation

So Mary-Kate Olsen won't have to talk to police about Heath Ledger's death after all.

MK had twice refused to be interviewed by cops wanting to know how he illegally obtained the prescription drugs found in his body.

But now the case has officially been closed, so she's off the hook altogether, according to the New York Daily News.

She was on the Drug Enforcement Administration's list of people to talk to because Heath's masseuse had called her before dialing 911 when she found his body at his apartment on January 22nd.

She had immediately sent her bodyguards to the scene, who arrived at the Manhattan pad at same time as emergency services.

By the end of last week, the DEA had questioned the Dark Knight star's doctors, his ex, Michelle Williams and even Mary-Kate's bodyguards.

But she'd been demanding a guarantee from cops that she wouldn't be charged with any crimes as part of the investigation, before she agreed to speak out.

New York police had even taken out a subpoena back in April that they could have used to bring her in for questioning, but they'd been holding out on using it, hoping they could convince her to come in voluntarily.

But now she won't have to say a word to officials about where Heath got the painkillers Vicodin and OxyContin, which were part of the cocktail of presciption drugs he is believed to have taken at this New York apartment.

On Tuesday her lawyer, Michael Miller, released a statement saying she, "had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger's home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them."

But this latest development means we may never officially know what part, if any, Mary Kate played in his death.
