From Ashton and Demi to Arnold and Maria: The Most Shocking Splits of 2011

You can say it's been the year of the break-up — from the end of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver's 25-year marriage to the destruction of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphies sacred union after 72 days, heartbreaking celebrity splits have made headlines in 2011.
It was a complete surprise when news broke that Arnold and Maria were separating, especially when it was revealed The Terminator star had fathered a child fourteen years ago with the family's former housekeeper, Mildred "Patty" Baena. Although new reports are saying Arnold and Maria spent Christmas together and may rethink their divorce, no one expected the couple to go through such a shocking and painful separation in the first place.

Another surprise split was that of latin lovebirds, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony. The American Idol judge and the "I Need to Know " singer called it quits after seven years of marriage and two kids, 3-year-old twins Max and Emme. J.Lo is now dating her much-younger back-up dancer Casper Smart.

Speaking of younger men, Demi Moore announced that she is filing for divorce from her husband of six years, Ashton Kutcher, in November. The couple, who are 15 years apart, made headlines when they began dating back in 2003. They were happily married in September 2005, and to everyone's surprise, their relationship seemed perfect. Well, that facade only lasted until rumors of Ashton's infidelity surfaced after the couple's anniversary.

And lastly, one of the most shocking splits (yet, least shocking at the same time) was Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries' break-up. The couple captivated the world when they tied the knot in an over-the-top, lavish affair, that aired on E! in early October. Kim and Kris were wed on August 20, enjoyed a two-day honeymoon in Italy and were back in NYC filming her show Kourtney & Kim Take New York with sister Kourtney Kardashian, her beau, Scott Disick, and their two-year-old son, Mason. Then, after only 72 days of marriage, Kim announced that she was filing for divorce, siting irreconcilable differences.
