Avon's Global Ambassador Reese Witherspoon Speaks Out on Domestic Abuse

As a Global Ambassador for Avon, Reese Witherspoon spoke out at the 2nd World Conference of Women's Shelters in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday against domestic violence.

Reese presented Avon Communications Awards to global domestic violence leaders at the Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center. The actress said the event also prompted her to speak to her two children Ava, 12, and Deacon, 8, about domestic violence.

According to The Associated Press, Reese believes it's important to educate children about social media and "what constitutes harassment, what is acceptable and what is not."
In addition, Reese said Miranda Lambert's "Gunpowder and Lead" and songs like that "create retaliation fantasies,” which are “a very important part of our psychology,” but Reese believes going public about domestic violence is even more effective.
