The actor, who plays Dan Humphries on the series, showed off his buff arms and had his unruly hair pulled back in a headband as he tooled around Manhattan yesterday on his bicycle after a workout at the gym.

Penn already has one project in the books for the next move in his career. The actor will play the late singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley in Greetings from Tim Buckley.

The final season of Gossip Girl premieres on October 8.
