Katie Holmes looked fresh-faced in a black button-up and intricately beaded champagne-colored Carolina Herrera skirt at the Style Awards last night in NYC. The actress presented Carolina with the Designer of the Year Award at the Lincoln Center event that kicked off 2012 New York Fashion Week.

This is an epic week for Katie, who debuts her line, Holmes and Yang, at the tents, which insiders say is a gutsy move for the actress.

"This is a big deal for Katie, to show in the tents, under the full attention of the fashion editors and the glare of media scrutiny,” a source tells The New York Post. “They could have done a small show elsewhere, so this proves she and Jeanne [Yang] are very serious about their business.”

Katie was spotted hugging good pal Amy Adams outside the event.
