Katie Holmes and her adorable little co-star Bailee Madison both looked gorgeous on the red carpet last night for the premiere of their dark thriller, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. And just in case Katie was spooked by her own performance in the scary flick, her hubby Tom Cruise was on hand for the after-party to hold her hand. Aww!

"I was terrified when I read the script," Katie admitted to reporters last night, adding that she watched The Exorcist to prepare for the role.

"In The Exorcist, you really fall in love with that mother/daughter relationship. It feels so natural and so real. You don’t suspect what is going to start to happen. You say, 'Oh I recognize that they’re having dinner now. 'They’re doing homework, all those things. You’re so invested. So we really wanted to make that with this movie and have a movie where these relationships work outside of the monsters."

And Katie had nothing but praise for her young co-star, telling reporters: "Bailee is a wonderful actress. She is from a beautiful family and her mom Patti is a lovely woman and the great thing about making movies is you bring your families into it and everyone’s families get to know each other and that happened on this movie, and I had the pleasure of getting to know her family. And she [got to know] our family."

Afterward everyone adjourned to a dinner and party, and Tom showed up in a casual blue shirt and sunglasses. Shades at night — how very celebrity-like of him!
