Celeb Boomerang Retirements

JOAQUIN PHOENIX

Retirement: Announced on Oct. 28, 2008, that he was giving up acting.

Status: Claims to be focusing on his music.

On the Walk the Line star's 34th birthday, Joaquin surprised Extra by saying, "I want to take this opportunity to give you the exclusive, that this will be my last performance as an actor. I'm not doing films anymore."  He then showed up at a screening of Che on Nov. 1 in Hollywood with "Good" and "Bye" written on his fingers.

Will Joaquin pull a boomerang and come back to acting? Check out who else has flirted with retirement, only to return later.
