Pre-Meltdown: The wide-eyed star of '90s hits like Mermaids and Heathers. Girlfriend to seemingly every musician ever to strum a guitar.

Low Points: In the middle of the 2001 holiday shopping season, Winona was put in cuffs for walking out of a Beverly Hills Saks Fifth Avenue store with over $5,000 in merchandise. Her explanation? It was research for a role! It was also reported that Miss W had filled over 37 prescriptions written by 20 doctors, using six different aliases, though all drug charges were ultimately dismissed.

Entertainment Factor: You could probably sum it up as "Celebs... they really are worse than us." The sheer amazement that someone with the on-screen success of a Winona Ryder would still resort to shoplifting had folks glued to the TV for updates. 

Current Status: Though Winona has continued to work somewhat steadily since the arrest and subsequent trial, she appears to have been relegated to working in smaller, independent films.
