Hollywood's Breast Cancer Survivors
Two months after being diagnosed with breast cancer, Christina Applegate, 36, is "1oo percent" cancer free. "I'm clear. Absolutely 100 percent clear and clean," Applegate told Good Morning America. "It did not spread--they got everything out. So I'm definitely not going to die from breast cancer."
But Christina's peace of mind came with a price. To be sure she had gotten all the cancer out and that there would be a reduced chance of recurrence, the Samantha Who? star opted to have both her breasts removed, also known as a double mastectomy, despite the cancer only being found in one of her breasts.
"My decision, after looking at all the treatment plans that were possibilities for me, the only one that seemed most logical was to have a bilateral mastectomy," Applegate said.
