Poppy (Hawkins) is blissfully happy without needing much. Throughout the film, her patience and positive outlook continuously get tested, but with Poppy’s infectious laugh, it seems nothing can get her down.

Rachel Getting Married (Sony Pictures Classics)
Starring: Anne Hathaway, Rosemarie DeWitt (Sony Pictures Classics)
Hathaway delivers a powerful performance as Kym, an ex-junkie struggling with her inner demons. When Kym comes home for the weekend to take part in the wedding of her sister (DeWitt), she causes several scenes. You’ll feel un-comfortable at times, but ultimately you will relate to many pieces of this dysfunctional family.

Appaloosa (Warner Bros.)
Starring: Renée Zellweger, Viggo Mortensen, Ed Harris
Zellweger and western flicks don’t mesh well in this remake of the 1966 film. Two friends (Mortensen and Harris) are hired to bring order to a small town. Mortensen looks great in his getup, but otherwise there’s hardly any other reason to see this one.

How To Lose Friends & Alienate People (MGM)
Starring: Kirsten Dunst, Simon Pegg, Megan Fox
Overly obnoxious British journalist Sidney (Pegg) moves across the pond for an incredible opportunity to work for glossy Sharps magazine. As he bumbles through the Manhattan media scene, his laddish pranks and brash demeanor don’t go over well with the magazine elite — or the ladies.

Nights in Rodanthe (Warner Bros.)
Starring: Diane Lane, Richard Gere
Sometimes love stories are better told in books, as Nicholas Sparks did so beautifully in his novel of the same name. A separated woman (Lane) and a lonely man (Gere) share a beach house for a few days and fall in love. It’s always hard to translate a novel onto the screen, and although Gere and Lane give it their best shot, it doesn’t do the trick.

Miracle at St. Anna (Touchstone Pictures)
Starring: Derek Luke, Michael Ealy, Laz Alonso
Spike Lee takes on the James McBride novel that follows four members of the all-black 92nd Infantry Division in WWII. It drags a bit, but it’s interesting to see how worlds collide. Expect nothing less than an emotionally charged drama from Lee.

The Lucky Ones (Lionsgate)
Starring: Rachel McAdams, Tim Robbins
Three U.S. soldiers find themselves on a cross-country trip during one of their leaves from the Army. Colee (McAdams) tries to bring light to everyone’s various issues, adding humor to otherwise sad and troubling situations. Although these three are the lucky ones for surviving, it’s hard to watch this and call them lucky.

Eagle Eye (Dreamworks)
Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan
This one reminded me of The Bourne trilogy. Two strangers (LaBeouf and Monaghan) get calls from a woman they don't know that lead them on a wild goose chase. They are forced to complete tasks and carry out a plan or they'll die. It's action packed and a thrill ride but once you find out where the voice is coming from, it's a bit disappointing. LaBeouf and Monaghan have no chemistry whatsoever although it's unclear whether thats on purpose or not. If you like action flicks, you'll enjoy this one on the big screen, but if not wait for the DVD.

This period drama is based on the true story of the Duchess of Devonshire’s (Knightley) attempt to find love and acceptance with a cold-hearted duke (Fiennes). Keira is flawless as the scorned duchess, and her tumultuous struggles will definitely make you shed
some tears.
