When Prince Charles of Wales proposed to childhood friend and lover Princess Diana, she laughed and said yes, almost not believing him. The couple had a fairytale wedding and gave birth to two boys, William and Harry. Soon their relationship was rocky and the couple divorced in 1996. Tragically, Princess Diana was killed in a car crash in 1997 and despite their divorce, Prince Charles made sure his ex-wife was given a formal royal funeral.
