In her new movie, 27 Dresses, Katherine Heigl plays a girl who’s always the bridesmaid and never the bride. But off the silver screen, the actress is not only a blushing newlywed, she also seems to have captured the hearts of American men.
On Thursday, the lifestyle Web site Askmen.com named Katherine Heigl the year’s most desirable woman. The site — which boasts seven million readers a month — said it polls users annually for a list of 99 women who best embody the qualities of an ideal girlfriend or wife, as judged by intelligence, humor, charisma and ambition.
"This year’s list really goes to show who our users relate with and find beautiful, charming and personable," Editor-in-Chief James Bassil says.
It’s been an amazing year for Heigl, 29. She received acclaim for her role in last year’s runaway hit Knocked Up and won a Best Supporting Actress Emmy for her work on the television series hit Grey’s Anatomy. Heigl’s personal life has also played out like a fairy tale. Her wedding earlier this month to musician Josh Kelley — featured exclusively on the pages of OK! — was set in a romantic Christmas-themed ceremony.
Those who also made the AskMen.com list was model Alessandra Ambrosio, who came in at no. 2, followed by British actress Kate Beckinsale, Eva Mendes, Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, Rihanna and Marisa Miller.
James Marsden Dishes on Katherine Heigl

27 Dresses star James Marsden didn’t have to pretend falling for co-star Katherine Heigl, Marsden told Extra that the key to their on-screen chemistry was, “We [Katherine and I] enjoyed hanging out when we weren’t shooting," he says.
Not that Heigl’s new husband musician Josh Kelley has anything to worry about. Kelley was “on set a lot, [but] not when we were being intimate, of course!" And Marsden, who is also married, bonded with the musician. “We actually got the guitar and played together and actually started writing songs together," Marsden reveals.
Despite his most recent high-profile movie, Marsden keeps it low key. "I love where I’m at right now because I can walk down the street and most people don’t really blink an eye. I’m not being followed by people or photographed everywhere I go."
Josh Kelley Is Loving the Married Life

He’s two weeks into his marriage and all Josh Kelley can say about it is that it “feels great.”
“It feels good,” he tells OK! at the premiere of his new wife’s Katherine Heigl’s film 27 Dresses. “This is my girl. She’s my best friend. Now it’s legit.”
And now that it is legit, the couple can finally shack up together. As they told OK!, prior to their wedding, the two never lived together or even slept in the same room in the company of their parents.
“Living together and not having to worry about sleeping in the same room while her parents are in the house feels really good," the 27-year-old says. "I don’t have to sleep on the couch anymore when her parents are there so that feels awesome. We’re living the same way we lived before. I just kinda moved in now so that’s about it.”
So what do they do at home?
“We sit at home, eat cheese and watch Dexter. That’s about it really.”
They’ll probably be doing that this Sunday too, now that the Golden Globes, for which Katherine is nominated in the best supporting actress category for Grey’s Anatomy, is cancelled.
"I’m hoping we just hang out. That’s really all we do. We just snuggle," he says. "I don’t really care much about going out so it’s been working good."
