Karina & Mario Spending the Summer Apart

May 22nd, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Mario Lopez had Dancing with the Stars gal-pal Karina Smirnoff, 30, on the brain at the Lucky Club Suites in NYC on May 12. While the actor and TV correspondent appeared excited at the various swag he picked up, it was one particular item he couldn’t wait to take home to his lady love: some Cosabella lingerie!

"He said he and Karina watch Sex and the City in their underwear!" a spy tells OK!. "So he picked a bunch to take home."

But the pair may have to wait to celebrate in their undies. "I’m in New York doing A Chorus Line on Broadway, getting ready for the second season of America’s Next Dance Crew and promoting a fitness book," Mario,34, told OK!. "I really don’t have a free day until September."

Mario Lopez Returning to DWTS

April 18th, 2008

Mario Lopez is ready to dance with the stars again – this time with his own chorus line.

The Dancing with the Stars alum is slated to perform on the May 6th episode of the ABC hit with his fellow cast members of Broadway’s A Chorus Line, Extra reports. The special performance is in celebration of the reality show’s landmark 100th episode.

The 34-year-old, who dates DWTS pro Karina Smirnoff (partner to R&B singer Mario this season) finished runner-up to Emmit Smith on the third season. He joined A Chorus Line on April 15 as Zach, a demanding director who is casting the chorus roles for a new Broadway musical.

"Everyone sings and dances except for the character I play, Zach," Mario says. "He doesn’t necessarily have to sing. I said, ‘All right, that’s my guy!’"

Mario Lopez: Broadway or Bust!

Mario Lopez is proving he not only acts, but sings and dances as well! — well, sort of.
"Everyone sings and dances except for the character I play, Zach," Lopez laughs. "He doesn’t necessarily have to sing. I said, ‘All right, that’s my guy!’”

Lopez has signed on to appear in the long-running Broadway hit, A Chorus Line.
Extra’s weekend co-host tells the show he has always dreamed of performing on Broadway but insecurities about his singing always held him back.

"They approached me to do The Producers and Chicago," he says, "but the crazy thing is I can’t really sing… That’s the irony of it. I love to sing, but was not comfortable enough to do it on Broadway.”

Lopez says there is one place where he feels comfortable singing. “I can do it in Koreatown at the karaoke bars," he jokes. "I sound like Elvis there!”

Hey, we hear singing in the shower always sounds good too!
