Behind Closed Doors With Britney

February 8th, 2008 / Author: cwillett

Though just about everything Britney Spears does in public is well-documented, little is known about what goes on behind the doors of her home inside her gated community. And now that the singer appears to be keeping a low profile following her release from UCLA Medical Center on Wednesday, even less is known about her current mindset.

However, hairstylist Kim Vo, who has been working on the singer’s locks since about the time of the infamous head-shaving incident last winter, spent four hours inside Britney’s home yesterday, tending to her tresses and chatting it up. And in an exclusive interview set to air tonight on E!’s Daily 10, Kim reveals that the singer is much more in control of her senses than folks are giving her credit for.

"She’s really a brilliant girl," says Kim, who arrived at Brit’s house Thursday afternoon to find her mother Lynne Spears and her best friend Jackie and two security guards inside. Kim says the singer couldn’t have been more polite and was a "true Southern woman."

Kim, who also worked on Lynne’s hair during his visit, says that, despite reports of tension between Britney and her mom, he saw no evidence of a rift.

According to Kim, Britney, who made a phone call to her little sister, Jamie Lynn, told him she wanted to change her image and wanted her hair longer and sexy. Kim then told her to "put the wigs away, this is crazy. You don’t want to be crazy!"

For the entire interview, tune into Daily 10 tonight at 7:30 p.m. on E!

Another Day in Court in Britney Case

February 7th, 2008 / Author: cwillett

As predicted by OK! after last night’s return to old form for Britney Spears, lawyers for her father Jamie Spears were back in an L.A. courtroom this afternoon where sources tell OK! they were expected to ask the judge to strengthen the existing conservatorship order that gives Jamie and co-conservator, attorney Andrew Wallet, temporary control over Brit’s financial and medical decisions.

Wallet, along with lawyers from the firm of Luce-Forward and court-appointed attorney Sam Ingham, appeared before Judge Goetz this afternoon. Jamie did not make an appearance, though sources tell OK! that he was dressed in a suit and ready to make his way to court if needed. No attorneys from the firm of Trope & Trope, who represent Brit in her custody battle with ex-hubby Kevin Federline, were present.

After a brief closed-door session with the judge, the press officer for the court told OK! that "all parties agreed and what they wanted was granted. Nothing went unopposed." For now, the documents of today’s hearing will remain sealed, but Ingham tells OK! that what went on this afternoon was "just a small part of the puzzle."

Last night, as Britney and her boyfriend Adnan Ghalib hopped in and out of the Beverly Hills Hotel, Jamie and Lynne issued a statement saying they are "deeply concerned about our daughter’s safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk." They also stated that the existing conservatorship orders "are being blatantly disregarded" and requested that "the court’s orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted."

Yesterday, after checking into the hotel and meeting up with Adnan, the pair paid a visit to lawyer Adam Streisand, who on Monday had attempted unsuccessfully to have himself named as Britney’s attorney. This morning, Streisand released a statement clarifying that he has decided to not involve himself any further in Brit’s legal matters.

Adnan Kicked Out of Britney’s Hospital?

February 4th, 2008 / Author: cwillett

According to witnesses at the UCLA Medical Center, where troubled pop star Britney Spears is undergoing her court-ordered 14-day treatment, the singer’s photographer boyfriend Adnan Ghalib was turned away when he tried to pay her a visit today. And we hear that the person behind Adnan’s rejection was none other than Brit’s mom Lynne Spears.

But another eyewitness says not so — and that Brit’s paprazzo boyfriend was actually inside the hospital for about 20 minutes to a half hour before he emerged to the waiting paparazzi. "Adnan looked very, very sad," a source says. "He didn’t talk to anyone and tried to avoid having his picture taken. He was very upset."

Many had speculated that Lynne had taken to Adnan in the days leading up to Britney’s hospitalization, especially when the two rode together to the hospital last week while his archenemy Sam Lutfi and Brit’s cousin, Alli Sims, were left to ride in their own cars.

However, today’s developments would imply that Adnan’s status is almost as low as Brit’s former constant companion Sam, who is now the subject of a restraining order prohibiting him from making any contact with the pop star.

Britney’s New Lawyer: “She Doesn’t Want Her Father”

February 4th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

In a story already overflowing with different lawyers and judges, the Britney Spears situation added yet another name to the list today with legal eagle Adam Streisand, who is attempting to represent the 26-year-old mother of two in her fight to have her father removed as conservator of her financial and medical matters.

Streisand spoke to OK! today during a break in the proceedings to explain how and why he finds himself involved in Hollywood’s highest profile case.

"I was hired by Britney over the phone this weekend," Streisand explained to OK!. "We had two conversations." Adam, who is related to that other famous Streisand, says he was referred to the pop star by Trope & Trope, the firm representing her in her custody battle with Kevin Federline.

"She wants her voice to be heard at the table," Streisand continues. "Whether she has the ability to do that at this point is an issue." As for her reasons for asking to have her father removed as conservator, Streisand says, "She’s expressed her desire. She wants a neutral, independent party taking care of her medical and financial concerns. What she doesn’t want is her father."

Regarding the court investigator’s claim that Britney is unable to understand the proceedings and that she lacks the ability to retain information, Streisand disagrees. "Based on the conversations I had with her, she sounded coherent," he claims. "Or I wouldn’t be here."

There is a catch-22 involved in Britney’s hiring of Streisand. With her father named as conservator, he and co-conservator Andrew Wallet are supposed to have a say over whom, outside of her existing legal team, she has contact with. At Monday’s hearing, it was determined by the court that Streisand’s hiring was unofficial and, therefore, he may not currently represent her in legal matters.

A hearing on Britney’s mental state has been set for Feb. 14.
