Sam Lutfi Claims Britney Spears Ruined His Life
July 8th, 2009 / Author: Mary Beth Quirk
Break out the world’s tiniest violins — Britney Spears‘ former svengali, Sam Lutfi, says Brit and her parents have ruined his life.
The ex-manager/constant companion has filed legal papers in his defamation lawsuit against the Spears clan, reports TMZ, claiming a variety of injustices against his poor self.
He complains that Lynne Spears‘ book about Britney is made up of lies, especially the story she tells of Sam grinding up pills and slipping them into Brit’s food.
As a result of the book, he claims: “I am constantly in fear for my life…” and that he was “harassed and cajoled by the public.”
He’s got at least one reputable character on his side, Britney’s sometime boyfriend/paparazzo Adnan Ghalib, who wrote a declaration swearing that Sam wasn’t holding Brit hostage, as Lynne said. Good luck with that, Sam.
Brit’s Ex to Stand Trial in Hit-and-Run
May 4th, 2009
While he’s out of Britney Spears‘ (non pink) hair these days, paparazzo Adnan Ghalib is still finding ways to stir up trouble. Brit’s sometime ex-boyfriend will appear for a preliminary hearing May 18 to set a trial date in the case involving a process server he allegedly hit with his car, TMZ reports.
He’s been charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery and felony hit-and-run charges in the incident. Ram Mastowtiz, the process server who says Adnan hit him, also was granted a temporary restraining order. Britney and her consveratorship already have one of those protecting them from Adnan.
Adnan’s attorney requested pictures from a security camera that took photos of the alleged crime scene, ostensibly to try and help his client prove his innocence.
Testimony Heard in Sam Lutfi Restraining Order Trial
April 1st, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff
It was another trip into the strange world of one-time <a href="http://okmagazine.com/search/Britney" target="_blank"><strong>Britney Spears</strong></a> hanger-on <a href="http://okmagazine.com/search/lutfi" target="_blank"><strong>Sam Lutfi</strong></a> today as an L.A. judge heard testimony about whether or not the restraining order keeping him from contacting the pop star should be made permanent.
First up on the Judge Aviva Bobb’s witness stand was attorney John Anderson, who testified that he had been contacted by Sam with the goal of taking over Britney’s legal representation from Sam Ingham, the attorney appointed by the court after her father had been declared her conservator.
<a href="http://www.okmagazine.com/pixandvids/gallery/9358/" target="_blank"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3359/3182836701_3521c6e4a4_o.jpg" width="163" height="52" alt="brit2" /></a>
Anderson testified that, despite the fact that Lutfi had told him that Britney lacked the legal capacity to hire her own attorney, he nonetheless drew up papers for her to sign. Anderson had been told by Lutfi that all of Britney’s phones had been cut off and that the singer was effectively living "in prison."
"Britney asked [Sam] to help her," Anderson testified. "Her phones had been cut off and her ability to meet anypone was also cut off… She said it was as if she was in prison, that she was completely controlled by her father with no ability to contact anyone… that the conservatorship and her father were causing her emotional distress."
Somehow, Lutfi provided Anderson with a "signed" copy of her petition to change representation, and the lawyer then took steps to ask the court to be named Britney’s rep. But after conferring with the conservators, he ultimately opted not to pursue this line of action.
Next up on the stand was Daniel William Haynes, a former roommate of Lutfi who testified that he had to take out a restraining order against Sam after only five months of living together. The main purpose of Haynes’ testimony was to help prove that Sam had previously used the screenname "CityGalIn310" — the same screenname that later sent Britney and her father e-mails and texts.
Longtime Jamie Spears attorney Blair Berk took the stand to testify that she had received threatening messages from the CityGalIn310 screenname. According to Blaie, in January, Sam "made clear to me by his words that there was some embarrassing information that he was fearful would be released against him" by Britney. And if that info were to be made public, Lutfi allegedly told Berk that he would then see to it that "destructive and unflattering information would be released about Jamie and Britney." Berk saw this as "extortion" and contacted the LAPD.
In court, Lutfi’s lawyer Bryan Freedman tried to counter this testimony by claiming that Brit was "crying out for help to Sam" and that she "left four messages on his machine asking sam for help" in late December and early January.
As for these messages, which were recently leaked to the press, Berk said, "My opinion was that — based on the unusual language that this person was using, words that I’ve never heard britney used; turns of phrases, use of language — that was not Britney Spears… Based on the sound, it was clearly edited."
Berk also shot down Sam’s claims that Britney had been reaching out to him for help. "She repeatedly asked if I could get [Sam] arrested for what he’d done to her and to get the court to order him to stay away from her," Berk testified.
On hand to tell yet another side of this sordid tale was Sam’s sister, Christina Lutfi, who said she met Brit several times while Sam was "living with Britney." According to Christina, she was borrowing one of Sam’s cellphones one day in January and received at least three calls from Britney asking for Sam to help her get a new lawyer. Christina also claimed that Britney asked her to ask Sam to get her a phone so she could contact him. "She wanted sam to get her a lawyer," Christina testified. "She was afraid of her father and wanted a way to get a pre-paid cellphone."
So on Jan. 16, Britney’s ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib provided Sam with a pre-paid phone, which he then passed on to Christina. And per Britney’s alleged instructions, Christima met up with the singer at the Peninsula Hotel’s 5th-floor gym, where Brit was working out with mom Lynne Spears.
Christina testified that Britney went into sauna she followed 10 minutes later to give her the phone. Recalls Sam’s sister: "At that point Britney asked, ‘Will they be able to help me?’"
At the end of the day, Sam’s lawyers argued — and failed to win — a dismissal. They tried to convince the judge that, without the testimony of Britney or her doctors, the prosecutors can not prove "substantial emotional distress" that would merit making the restraining order permanent.
Both sides will have their say on April 21, when the judge will hear closing arguments in the case.
Britney Gets 3 Adnan-Free Years
March 18th, 2009
Ever since Britney Spears split from paparazzo Adnan Ghalib, her life has been on the upswing – awards, hit songs, popular tour, the works. And now a judge is making sure he won’t be able to interfere in her life for at least three years.
TMZ reports that the judge gave the go ahead for the permanent restraining order after Adnan decided not to show up for his hearing today. Britney’s conservators, including her father, previously had a temporary restraining order to keep the kinda ex-boyfriend away.
Meanwhile, the other bad apple from Britney’s former circle, Sam Lutfi, is scheduled to have a hearing on April 1 to decide whether his restraining order should be extended as well. As OK! previously reported, testimony from an earlier hearing from Brit’s hair stylist Roberta Romero revealed that Sam had sent a barrage of texts to the woman in an attempt to get through to Britney.
"Her family put her into the hospital just to set up the conservatorship," read one text. "I’ve done everything I can to free her…. I’m very close to getting her free now."
According to testimony, these texts scared Brit so much, she asked Roberta to text Sam back and tell him to leave her alone. Her head of security, Itamar Gelbman, also testified that Brit was afraid of Sam.
"She was scared… She can’t fall asleep," Gelbman testified, saying that Britney asked him to increase the security patrols around her house.

Sam Paints Adnan as the Bad Guy
February 27th, 2009
For a while it seemed like Sam Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib were in cahootz in their plot to get Britney Spears back under their control.
But thanks to poppa Spears, things haven’t exactly worked out for Brit’s ex-friend/manager and her ex-paparazzo boyfriend. And now it looks like Sam has adopted the "every man for himself" strategy.
According to TMZ, Sam just filed with the court, in which he says he had no direct contact with Britney, but that Adnan did!
Sam, who has been ordered to stay completely clear of Britney with no contact, claims, "I did not initiate direct communication with Britney Spears. Although I did receive text messages from her, all responses to those messages were conveyed to Britney through others, including…Adnan Ghalib."
Sam does say he has "exchanged text messages with Ms. Spears."

Lutfi also claims he never threatened any act of violence against Britney or her family.
But Brit’s head of security filed his own declaration basically saying Sam is a liar and that he witnessed him try "to contact Ms. Spears by sending text messages to her hairdresser.
TMZ has also got a transcript of the text message Sam allegedly got from someone claiming that Jamie Spears was going to make "some horrible accusations regarding you."

Adnan Charged with Three Felonies
February 24th, 2009
Adnan Ghalib, the greasy paparazzo-turned ex-boyfriend of Britney Spears, has been charged with three felonies.
TMZ is reporting that Adnan was slapped with assault with a deadly weapon, battery and hit and run. Ghalib allegedly hit a man with his car in an alley on Feb. 11. The man was reportedly trying to serve Adnan with legal papers on behalf of Britney Spears.
One law enforcement source says Adnan allegedly hit the guy, who landed on the hood of the car and then continued driving. The server jumped on the hood of Ghalib’s Mercedes to avoid being pinned against a trash truck.
Cops and paramedics were called. The victim broke his wrist and suffered cuts and bruises.
Prosecutors are asking for bail set at $110,000. If convicted, Ghalib could get seven years in prison.
