Meet ‘30 Rock’ Star Judah Friedlander

July 13th, 2008

Judah Friedlander stars in Meet Dave, which is in theaters now.

“I play the engineer of a spaceship,” the 39-year-old actor tells me. “I’m about this tall in the movie. I love effects movies.”

When he’s not doing standup comedy or starring in movies, Judah plays Frank Rossitano on the Emmy, Golden Globe and Peabody Award-winning comedy 30 Rock.

Tina Fey is really cool,” he tells me. “She’s so mellow and laidback. She’s doing a million things at once and it doesn’t bother her somehow. She has lunch in the big cafeteria with all the crew. So does [Alec] Baldwin, so does everyone. There’s no attitude. No one’s off in their trailer just being by themselves. Everyone’s with everybody.”

What’s his favorite thing to eat in the 30 Rock cafeteria?

“They always mix it up. I’m trying to watch the weight, and it’s hard because they always have such good stuff there. You could just eat all day. It’s pretty rough. I can’t resist anything. They have cookies out all day, desserts. If we shoot real late – often we do 14, 16-hour days – they’ll order in pizza. You can just eat a whole pie of pizza. You’ve gotta be careful. You can put a lot of weight on filming 30 Rock.”

Who is his dream guest?

Al Pacino as Tony Montana in Scarface,” he tells me. “That would be cool if he came back from the dead. I’m a big Pacino fan. He’s a great actor, so much passion and intensity.”

After hours, he kicks back with horror films and names Let’s Scare Jessica To Death and the original Stepfather as his favorites. He also makes his own hats. “I’ve made them for ten years,” he says.

Meet Dave is in theaters now.

No More “Ocean’s” Films

July 11th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff

Looks like 13 was an unlucky number for the series of hugely popular George Clooney and Brad Pitt-starring Ocean’s films, as co-star Don Cheadle tells OK! that there won’t be another sequel.

"No," said Don when asked about whether or not there’d be an Ocean’s 14. "Done. It’s a wrap."

This sad news brings to an end the series of films, which started with 2001’s Ocean’s 11 — a semi-remake of the Frank Sinatra-starring 1960 original —and has grossed over $1 billion worldwide. In addition to Cheadle, Pitt and Clooney, the Steven Soderbergh-directed films featured a veritable who’s-who of Hollywood stars, including Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Andy Garcia, Casey Affleck, Al Pacino, Bernie Mac, Scott Caan, Elliott Gould, Carl Reiner and several others.

And even though Don won’t be working with this cavalcade of stars in the near future, he’s very excited about his current projects — producing a TV version of his Oscar-winning 2004 movie Crash for cable network Starz, and an upcoming film in which he’ll portray jazz legend Miles Davis.

Al Pacino to Dance With the Stars?

April 2nd, 2008 / Author: cwillett

Al Pacino is clearly a man of many talents, but dancing?
"Oh come on!" the Oscar winning star laughs when asked if he would try his luck on Dancing With the Stars. "Although you know my friend George Hamilton did it and George was terrific and he enjoyed it. If I need to lose a few pounds, maybe I’ll try it."

Pacino sat down with ET to discuss his latest movie, 88 Minutes. In the film, Pacino plays a character with a stalker. It’s something the actor says he had to deal with early on in his career.

"I had a stalker in the old days when I was sexy!" Pacino tells ET in the interview, set to air tonight. "It was a bit of a nightmare, but it ended and I don’t want to start it up again!"

Pacino teams up with Robert De Niro in the movie, and says working with the actor was pure pleasure. "We’re very much at ease because we’ve known each other so long," he says. "It’s fun to be with him; he’s actually very funny!"

Together, Pacino and De Niro make quite the formidable team. In fact, it’s easy to see how younger co-stars might feel intidmidated, but Pacino says he understands. "I can remember going on the set with Marlon Brando and he took me around and hugged me. It didn’t make any difference, I was still intimidated. As a matter of fact, I became more intimidated!" he laughs.

Pacino says his 7-year-old twin sons often visit him on the set, but they’re still too young to understand his profession. "They know I’m an actor, but they think everybody’s an actor," he says.

For the full interview, tune into ET tonight! Check your local listings.
