Roker Slams Speidi… Again

June 16th, 2009

Yesterday, when The Today Show’s Al Roker dared to ask reality TV loudmouths Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag some honest questions about their bratty behavior on the set of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, it was unlikely that the TV vet had any intention of making the newlyweds any more famous than they already are. But both the interview — and Speidi’s comments about it afterward — have pushed the reality stars even further into the spotlight.

On this morning’s edition of Today, Al defended himself against the allegations that he "persecuted" Spence and Heidi by not lobbing softball questions at them.

"I believe I asked what a lot people wanted to know," Al told co-host Meredith Vieira. And as for Spencer’s statement that it was only by the grace of God that he didn’t physically attack the Today host, Roker commented, "If he had tried to come across, I would have dropped him like a bag of dirt."

Regarding Heidi’s charge that Al has a problem with women, he countered, "I’ve interviewed hundreds of women; never had a complaint… They are so unused to people actually asking them a real question. They don’t know how to handle it."

In the end, Roker seemed dumbfounded that two people of such meager accomplishments could cause such a stink. "There are a lot of celebrities who come on the show," he said by comparison. "Who’ve actually done something, who act civil."

Spencer Pratt for President?

June 15th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

Though they might have finally exited the Costa Rican jungle for good, the inexplicable media juggernaut that is Spencer Pratt and wife Heidi Montag continues on. And if the loud-mouth dude from Southern California gets his way, the Speidi Express will someday come to an end at the White House.

In an interview to air tonight on Extra, S.Pratt explains that he’ll only be content, "When I’m in the White House as the President of the United States, this beautiful amazing, country… Then I’ll be like, ‘Okay, I’ve done what I’ve dreamt my whole life to be.’ That was the game plan to become the most famous person on the planet, so when I’m campaigning, people will know who I am. No one knew who Obama was and now he’s the President. Just imagine what I’m capable of… I plan to be the President of the United States in the next 20 years."

THE RETURN OF SPEIDI:

The outspoken one also had words for The Today Show’s Al Roker, who pulled no punches when he interviewed the pair earlier on Monday.

"He’s a weatherman at the end of the day," says Spencer. "Weathermen just don’t get on my radar… The guy was a bully… We just woke up and all of a sudden this guy started screaming at us. We didn’t even know what the Today Show was. I thought it was some guy named Matt."

Truly Presidential material, don’t you think?

OK! Exclusive: Jamie Foxx to Perform at Tree Lighting

December 1st, 2008

While Wednesday’s tree-lighting ceremony at NBC’s Rockefeller Center in NYC is already set to be a star-studded event, with celebs like Miley Cyrus, Beyoncé, Jonas Brothers, David Cook and others scheduled to attend – including a rumored appearance by Britney Spears – the night will be just a little bit brighter, as OK! has learned exclusively that Jamie Foxx will also be performing.

"This year brings more star power than ever before, for the lighting of the world’s most famous Christmas tree," says Bob Holmes, the executive producer of the event. "We couldn’t be more proud of all the people who have come together to make this special happen for all the families tuning in."

The ceremony, broadcast live at 8/7  Central Time on Dec. 3, will be hosted by NBC’s Al Roker and will also feature comedian Stephen Colbert.

November 17th, 2008

Talk about a turnaround — Britney Spears started 2008 barricaded inside her L.A. home with her son while the police and ambulances waited outside. And now, less than 11 months later, she’s got a hit single, an album ready to drop in two weeks, a 2009 tour in the works, and OK! has just confirmed that she’ll be taking part in one the biggest annual Yuletide tradition: the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree!

Sources close to the pop superstar confirm to OK! that on Dec. 3, the day after she turns 27 and her new album, Circus, hits record stores, Britney will be in the Big Apple for the 76th annual tree-lighting extravaganza. What’s still unclear is whether or not she’ll be performing at the ceremony, or just hanging out with host Al Roker for the NBC broadcast of the event.

If Britney does perform, this could be her first live performance of her own songs since the 2007 Video Music Awards, where a dazed Brit slouched through a half-hearted production of her single, "Gimme More."

The recently reformed singer did step out onto stage on Nov. 6, when she made a cameo appearance at Madonna’s concert at L.A.’s Dodgers Stadium. The mother of two and the Material Girl sang a duet of Madge’s hit, "Human Nature."

To check out the tree-lighting ceremony for yourself, tune into NBC on Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. ET.

VIDEO: New Kids Make a Wet Return to the Stage

May 16th, 2008

Despite the early hour and the rain, fans of New Kids on the Block have waited a long time, since 1994 to be exact, for the return of their favorite boy band. And even with the sopping wet weather, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood didn’t disappoint.

The crowd outside NBC studios started forming on Wednesday morning, and by showtime, there were about 3,000 NKOTB fans. Al Roker even joked, "I haven’t seen a crowd like this since Ricky Martin and ‘Nsync’s first performance." Though Al must have had ‘Nsync on the brain because, when throwing it back to the weather, he added, "Rain couldn’t dampen all the spirits of ‘Nsync fans… there are airport delays from Washington to Boston.” Oops, Al… We think you meant NKOTB…

And it appeared that the boys were loving the show just as much as the fans. "We could get very weepy right now and sappy, because we absolutely have the greatest fans in the world," said Joey. "It’s amazing."

To kick off the Today Show Concert Series, the boys performed a medley of "Step by Step", "Hangin’ Tough", "The Right Stuff" and "Please Don’t Go Girl" before singing their new single, "Summertime."

Tomorrow, they will head to Z100’s Zootopia at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J and later this year will be touring the country.

They still have the right stuff!
