Britney’s Toxic Trio
March 26th, 2008
As Britney Spears continues to cool her heels under the supervision of her father Jamie Spears, there are a trio of former bad influences — former constant companion Sam Lutfi, boyfriend Adnan Ghalib and her party-girl cousin Alli Sims — biding their time, waiting for the day when the pop princess is unleashed.
First up is Brit’s former shadow Sam, whom OK! can report has gone from riding the singer’s coattails to fixing leaky plumbing and broken windows as the superintendent of his rundown condo in Venice Beach, Calif. Britney’s dad has attempted to erase Sam from his daughter’s life by seeing to it that the restraining order against him is enforced to its fullest. However, Sam insists exclusively to OK!, “I’m a good person, and all that matters is that Britney’s getting better.”
Sure…
Of the three, Adnan, Brit’s notorious paparrazo beau, is the one who has the most contact with her and is the only one who gets to see her in the flesh. “She can call and text him," a Spears family insider tells OK!. "But Jamie has limited his physical appearances in the house.” In fact, the swarthy photog has reportedly been turned away at the gates of Brit’s private community, The Summit, at least twice.
Earlier this week, Adnan even took to the Internet to proclaim his undying affection for Brit and to also say that he’s never cheated on her "or any of my past relationships." We think his wife might have something to say about that…
Rounding out the trio is Britney’s fame-hungry cousin-about-town Alli, who had been using her family member to push herself into the spotlight. Except, as soon as Brit was committed for the first time this year, Alli was on a plane to New York City to "work on her album."
Immediately following Brit’s release into her father’s care, the singing superstar was banned from texting Alli. However, Jamie has recently decided to permit brief phone calls between the pair. “Alli agreed not to be in communication with her close friend Sam Lutfi in order to be granted permission to call and text Britney,” the insider tells OK!.
Only time will tell if Britney is able to succesfully avoid the tempting lure of her former party posse, or if this time in relatively quiet lockdown has helped her to see who really has her best interests in mind.
Alli Shut Out by Brit’s Fam; Parties With Sam Instead
February 8th, 2008 / Author: cwillett
BFFs Sam Lutfi and Alli Sims may not be wanted anywhere near their former pop star friend, but that doesn’t mean they can’t still party like old times. The pair, minus a one Britney Spears, attended Paris Hilton’s birthday bash on Saturday night at club Area in L.A.
Those ‘three musketeers’ days of Britney, Sam and Alli traipsing around town now seem like a distant memory. The Spears family has been keeping a tight watch over the troubled singer since her abrubt release from UCLA’s psych ward on Feb. 6, and has placed a restraining order against Brit’s former confidante, Sam. Now sources tell OK! that the mounting distrust may extend to Alli as well.
Case in point — at around 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 7, Sims — trailed by the usual number of paparazzi — made her way to Britney’s house at The Summit. But according to X17, as Alli got close to entering the gated community, she suddenly pulled a U-turn and headed back the way she’d come.
Could Alli’s unexpected departure have anything to do with the conservatorship in place over Britney’s person and estate? As conservator, Jamie Spears has the authority to "reject and limit" visitors to his daughter’s home.
Sources say that since Alli is still friends with Sam, Brit’s parents may not want her around their daughter either. "With the locks changed, and the credit cards stopped, she may realize there is nothing further to be gained," the family friend tells OK! of Alli. "But if she tries anything, they’ll get a restraining order against her too."
Britney’s unexpected exit from UCLA’s psych ward on Wednesday launched a familiar paparazzi crush as the singer drove around town and holed herself up inside the Beverly Hills Hotel. As first reported by OK!, Jamie showed up at the hotel Wednesday night and convinced Britney to come home. Since that time, both he and Lynne Spears have been doing their best to keep their daughter under lockdown at her Beverly Hills mansion.
Jamie and Lynne have both reportedly moved into the house to take care of Britney, and sources say they are both determined to get the message out to Britney’s posse that they will no longer be living the high life at her expense. "Jamie will go back into court against Alli if need be," a Spears family friend tells OK!. "Hopefully, she’ll just disappear now."
Brit’s Parents Issue Statement
February 7th, 2008 / Author: cwillett
Following the surprising news that their daughter Britney Spears had been released earlier than expected from UCLA Medical Center, Jamie and Lynne Spears issued the following statement to CNN’s Anderson Cooper:
"As parents of an adult child in the throws of a mental health crisis, we were extremely disappointed this morning to learn that over the recommendation of her treating psychiatrist, our daughter Britney was released from the hospital that could best care for her and keep her safe. We are deeply concerned about our daughter’s safety and vulnerability and we believe her life is presently at risk. There are conservatorship orders in place created to protect our daughter that are being blatantly disregarded. We ask only that the court’s orders be enforced so that a tragedy may be averted."
Britney Finally Returns Home
February 6th, 2008
Almost 12 hours after being released from her court-ordered hospitalization, troubled pop star Britney Spears finally returned to her home behind the gates of her private community. And what had at first appeared to be headed for another classic Britney night of hotel-hopping and driving aimlessly until sunrise was brought to a quiet end after the intervention of her father.
Shortly before 9 pm on Wednesday (CLICK HERE for the entire timeline) a weary-looking Jamie Spears entered the lobby of the Beverly Hills Hotel, where his daughter was holed up in a room on the second floor with her boyfriend, photographer Adnan Ghalib. In his hands, Jamie was clenching a pile of legal documents that he was attempting to get the hotel staff to look at.
Thirty minutes later, with the assistance of hotel security and the LAPD, Jamie found himself face to face with the daughter who reportedly wants nothing to do with him. And yet somehow he was able to convince Brit to ultimately return to her home.
It’s possible that, as her court-appointed conservator, Jamie was able to tug on her purse strings to make her realize that she can’t afford expensive four-star hotel rooms without his approval. Regardless, insiders tell OK! that Brit and Adnan were driven to a restaurant in the San Fernando Valley and then to her home in The Summit where she and Adnan are currently staying with Jamie and Britney’s mom Lynne.
Sources also tell OK! that Jamie and Britney’s mom, Lynne, are likely to head to court as early as Thursday to ask the judge to strengthen the existing conservatorship. It is believed that Brit met with lawyer Adam Streisand shortly after being released from the hospital today and that Streisand, who attempted unsuccesfully earlier this week to present himself as Brit’s lawyer, may once again attempt to involve himself in the case.
OK! will be on hand at the courthouse tomorrow to bring you any breaking news.
Brit’s Out of the Hospital & on the Road!
February 6th, 2008
Only a few minutes after OK! confirmed that Britney Spears was released earlier today from UCLA Medical Center, witnesses were calling in from all over the Los Angeles area to let us know that Brit, with a bodyguard in the passenger seat, was once again behind the wheel of her black Mercedes-Benz and driving aimlessly around L.A. — first through the San Fernando Valley and then speeding westward on Sunset Blvd. toward the chic Brentwood area (watch video here).
"She’s back to her old ways," one witness tell OK! about Britney’s behavior. "Speeding, switching lanes erratically. It’s like she never went to the hospital at all."
As Britney, with her hair was piled up under a plaid cap and full makeup on, hit L.A. traffic, the phalanx of paparazzi following her would surround the car. The bodyguard in the car with Brit, who sources tell OK! was the same former Israeli soldier who often guards Lindsay Lohan when she is in L.A., opened his door several times in an attempt to shoo the photogs away.
And then around 3 p.m. PT, that bodyguard exited the singer’s car for good. A photographer for photo agency X17 took over the driving duties and Britney moved into the passenger seat as the bodyguard was left by the side of the road.
At 3:15 p.m. PT, Brit’s car pulled into the Beverly Hills Hotel, where the singer has spent many an evening in the last year, despite living only a few miles away. In the lobby of the hotel, Extra is reporting that Brit had a chance encounter with former TV newswoman, and First Lady of California, Maria Shriver. The pair reportedly commiserated over the waiting photographers before Britney was escorted up to a room.

Earlier today, doctors for the singer determined that the singer was no longer a danger to herself and others and could therefore no longer be held against her will. Britney was escorted out of the hospital quietly with the help of a private security detail and was to be staying with her father, Jamie Spears, at her home in the gated community called The Summit.
However, sources tell OK! that Brit never went home to The Summit and instead was picked up by a bodyguard driving her black Mercedes-Benz.
Last week, the singer was taken to the hospital for the second time in under a month. It has been reported that she had been awake for as many as five days straight. On Feb. 1, a court ordered that Brit’s father be named co-conservator of his daughter. The order was extended — against the wishes of Britney’s lawyers — on Monday until a Feb. 14 hearing on the matter.
Sam Tries to Sell Britney Out
February 5th, 2008 / Author: cwillett
In recent days, Sam Lutfi, the close companion of Britney Spears who is now legally forbidden from making contact with her, has accused Brit’s parents Jamie and Lynne Spears of only "wanting their daughter’s money."
And yet, ironically, someone claiming to be Sam’s representative recently contacted OK! wanting to make a deal for his story — despite him having signed a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement with Britney. An insider tells OK! exlusively that Sam has tried numerous times to sell photos of Britney and her boys as well.
"Talk about the pot calling the kettle black," a source close to the Spears family tells OK!. "He (Sam) is a bad guy in all of this and he hopefully will never have contact with Britney again."

Britney: “More Focused Than Ever”
January 28th, 2008 / Author: OK! Staff
Could Britney Spears be turning things around? For more than a year, the pop star’s career comeback has been completely overshadowed by her personal problems — divorce, custody battles, public breakdowns, rehab and hospital visits — but those who have watched the singer rehearse for her latest video tell OK! that she’s working harder than ever.
"She’s incredibly focused now," explains Robert Baker, owner of Millennium Dance Studios, where Brit has been refining her dance moves for the upcoming video shoot for her song "Hot as Ice." Baker has been in the studio with the 26-year-old mother of two during her rehearsals and says that the woman he’s seen kicking up her heels is a "whole new Britney."
The dance routine for "Hot as Ice" will be one of Britney’s famous chair numbers — the kind she made famous in her video for her hit "Stronger." And it’s rumored that the now-infamous "nip-slip" caught on camera during her rehearsal Sunday night might actually play a part in the "Hot as Ice" video — though it’s unclear how much skin Brit intends on showing.
Of course, Sunday night’s dance rehearsal wasn’t Britney’s only sexy stopover of the evening. Before heading to rehearsal the singer and pal Sam Lutfi had stopped by the Hustler Store on L.A.’s Sunset Strip, where unlike past visits when Brit picked up revealing clothes, she left with only a necklace — and a sandwich.
Following the rehearsal, Brit and Sam joined her cousin Alli Sims and a friend for a late-night showing of 27 Dresses. Eyewitnesses who spotted Britney leaving the theater tell OK! that the singer was teary-eyed as she left the theater.
Hey Britney, Where’s Alli?
January 5th, 2008
The last few days have been — to put it lightly — a whirlwind for Miss Britney Spears. And usually, when things get tense for the troubled pop star, her cousin and best friend Alli Sims is by her side.
However, witnesses are telling OK! that Brit’s best pal, who was at the singer’s house during the early hours of Thursday night’s standoff, is now 3,000 miles away in New York City, where Alli was spotted at Manhattan nightclub Tenjune.
"Alli came to New York to work," a friend of Brit’s cousin explains to OK!. "She said she’s here for work and really busy." And it looks like the stress of the whole Britney situation has gotten to Alli. "She’s not talking about Brit, but she’s obviously overwhelmed. People are calling and harassing her all day."
Meanwhile, Britney’s mother Lynne was photographed in Kentwood, La., on Saturday morning, visiting the grave of her sister Sandra, who passed away in 2007 from breast cancer.
