Did Howard Drug Anna?

March 17th, 2009

When Howard K. Stern goes to court on charges of providing drugs to an addicted Anna Nicole Smith — who died from an accidental overdose at 39 in 2007 — he will also come face-to-face with her friend Bobby Trendy.

“I will be sitting in the front row of the courtroom,” Bobby, 29 — who befriended the single mom when he decorated her L.A. home during The Anna Nicole Show in 2002 — tells OK!.

“[Howard] found that Anna was vulnerable,” he says. “I would ask Howard, ‘Why did you do this to Anna? I thought you were her friend.’ I miss Anna dearly. She changed my life.”

Along with doctors Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich, Howard, 40, faces up to five years and eight months in prison if convicted.

Anna Nicole Smith Doc Behind Bars

March 16th, 2009

One of the doctors who allegedly prescribed Anna Nicole Smith with meds is now behind bars, TMZ is reporting.

Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, a psychiatrist who is being accused of conspiring to pump Anna Nicole full of illegal prescription drugs, was booked at Van Nuys Jail in California at 11:11 a.m. PST.

Like Howard K. Stern and Dr. Sandeep Kapoor before her, her bail is set at $20,000. Both Stern and Kapoor bailed themselves out last week. They were charged with one count each of unlawfully prescribing a controlled substance, and Eroshevich and Stern were charged with unlawfully prescribing a controlled substance between June 2004 and January 2007.

The two docors were each charged with obtaining a prescription for opiates by "fraud, deceit or misrepresentation," as well as one count of obtaining a prescription for opiates by giving a false name or address.

Howard K. Stern Plans to Fight Charges

March 13th, 2009

UPDATE:

Sandi Gibbons, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Distric Attorney’s office tells OK!: “If convicted each defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of five years and eight months in state prison. However, a judge has the complete discretion in sentencing. It could range anywhere from probation to jail to prison. We are not going to make any further statement at this time… Their arraignment is scheduled for May 15 in department 30 of the L.A. Superior Court Division. The second doctor Khrisitine Eroshevich is expected to surrender, and her arraignment will probably be the same day. Stern and Kapoor are out on $20,000 bail each. That’s the amount we asked for, and that’s the amount we asked for third defendant.”

After posting bond last night, Howard K. Stern spoke to an Entertainment Tonight producer, who reports that the late Anna Nicole Smith’s lawyer definitely plans to fight the charges raised against him: six felony counts for allegedly conspiring to provide Anna with massive amounts of prescription drugs.

Howard’s dad, Leon Stern, tells ET the charges are "not true." In January 2007, just one month before she passed away, Anna Nicole herself denied that Howard was doing anything wrong.

"It’s not true. So not true that he’s (Howard) always giving me drugs," she told ET at the time.

California Attorney General Jerry Brown said angerous cocktails of prescription drugs were given to Anna Nicole "almost to the point of stupefaction" and eventually led to her death.

Brown calls Howard the "principal enabler" and says Howard and Dr. Sandeep Kapoor conspired in "prescribing drugs excessively to a known addict and using false and fictitious names all in violation of the law and all in furtherance of a conspiracy."

Along with Dr. Kapoor, Dr. Khristine Erosehevich has also been charged in the case. She told ET in March 2007 that Anna was prescribed "maybe four of five medications" at the time of her death, "Some of them were routine and some were as needed. We were talking about even cutting back."

Howard K. Stern in Trouble with the Authorities

March 12th, 2009 / Author: OK! Staff

We (and probably you) thought we’d heard the last of Howard K. Stern. But alas, on Thursday night, the former lawyer and lover to the late Anna Nicole Smith is expected to turn himself in–along with two other doctors–for allegedly conspiring to fuel an addict (Smith) with prescription drugs.

TMZ is reporting that Stern, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich are being charged with a total of 8 felonies. According to the L.A. County D.A., the conspiracy counts allege that the 3 defendants conspired to give controlled substances to Anna Nicole from between July, 2004 and January of 2007.

California drug officials recently raided the Los Angeles office of Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, looking for evidence against Stern. Stern has denied doing anything illegal in connection with drugs and Anna Nicole.

Anna Nicole Smith Descends on Britain’s Royal Opera

February 12th, 2009

Britain’s Royal Opera House has dropped a blonde bombshell on the world of theater!

According to E! News, the opera house plans to develop an opera based on the life of Anna Nicole Smith.

"It’s not going to be a horrible, sleazy evening," Elaine Padmore, director of opera at London’s Convent Garden, where the show will be staged, told British paper The Guardian. "It is not going to be tawdry; it is going to be witty, clever, thoughtful and sad."

Um, they do know this is Anna Nicole Smith they’re talking about, right?
Padmore does admit the show will be full of drama, and how could it not? Anna Nicole’s life–the part of it lived in the spotlight anyway–was nothing but drama, following her even in death. But Padmore insists the production will not exploit the former Playmate’s tragic mishaps.

"Just because a life has been in the tabloids does not mean it must be treated in a tawdry way on stage," she said, calling the show "a parable about celebrity and what it does to people…It will be a slice of our times–of America in the pre-Obama days."

Padmore has enlisted some of the British theater’s top dogs, including composer Mark-Anthony Turnage and librettist Richard Thomas (who incidentally co-created Jerry Springer: The Opera).

There’s a lot of stuff to cover; Smith’s life was a series of erratic events, including her early years as a stripper, her marriage to an oil tycoon 63 years her senior, becoming a Playboy Playmate, starring in her own reality show, and her drawn out Supreme Court battle for her late husband’s millions.

And all that happened before the events most people connect with Anna Nicole now: the suspicious death of son Daniel, the paternity battle over newborn daughter Dannielynn and her ultimate death from an accidental drug overdose in 2007 at the age of 39.

It’s enough to fill three shows, but Padmore is staying mum on which parts of Smith’s life she plans to highlight.

"In broad outline, it will tell the story of her life, the people who influenced her, her progress," she said. "Clearly the story is about a woman who met an ancient gentleman in a wheelchair, but it’s not going to be a straight narrative; choices have been made about significant moments, selecting which incidents in her life are to be built up."

The opera is slated to run during the 2011 season.

Anna Nicole Smith Doc’s Office Raided

February 5th, 2009

Although Anna Nicole Smith has been gone for two years, the investigation into those involved with her death continues. TMZ reports that DEA authorities have raided the office of Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, who prescribed methadone to the late star when she was 8 months pregnant.

The California Medical Board got a warrant to search the doc’s office, and are reportedly looking for possible prescriptions written out to Anna’s BFF and lawyer, Howard K. Stern. Officials are investigating whether the lawyer used those prescriptions to supply Anna with drugs, a story Howard denies.

Dr. Kapoor has been under the watchful eye of the California Department of Justice’s Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement since Anna died, for writing a methadone prescription out in the name of one of her aliases only 13 days before she gave birth to Danielynn. It’s illegal to prescribe a controlled substance under a false name in California.

While You Were Sleeping

Brooke Mueller really wants to have a baby — and she’s not shy about it. Charlie Sheen’s fiancée recently visited her husband-to-be on the set of a Hanes commercial he was filming and took a couple of pregnancy tests while in his trailer, reports Page Six. According to a source, "She would throw them out in the garbage on set and place them right on top… everyone could see the sticks," and would show off her "enormous" yellow diamond ring to the crew. Mueller’s rep had no comment.

Pam Anderson Returns to TV

April 7th, 2008 / Author: cwillett

Pamela Anderson is set to star in a new summer reality series, tentatively titled Pamela, on E!, the cable net announced Monday.

Following in the footsteps of Anna Nicole Smith, Pam will be the channel’s newest buxom blonde to give fans and viewers a peep inside her roller-coaster life.

"Pamela Anderson is one of the most captivating personalities in pop culture today," Lisa Berger, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Series Development for E!, says in a statement. "E!’s cameras capture Pam’s fabulous adventures, emotional journey and all the surprises that come along the way. It’s going to be a wild ride."

Pamela will be slightly different from Anna Nicole’s eponymous show. Shot documentary style, the series, which will not feature the 40-year-old’s sons, Brandon, 11, and Dylan, 10, is determined to give off a raw and intimate feel to it.

"Pamela will be an artistically rich and visually stunning series," says Randy Barbato, Managing Director, World of Wonder Productions, which is producing the show. "The series will offer an unprecedented look inside the life of one of today’s most iconic superstars in the style of a uniquely shot documentary film."

Pam recently had her third marriage to Rick Salomon annulled.

Daniel Smith Died From Accidental Overdose

March 31st, 2008

Daniel Smith’s death has been ruled an accidental overdose, a jury announced on Monday, officially ending a four-month inquest into what caused his passing.

The seven-member Bahamian jury, which deliberated over the inquest for two hours, also recommended that no criminal charges be filed.

Daniel, Anna Nicole’s son from her first marriage, passed away on Sept. 10, 2006 while visiting her and new baby sister Dannielynn in the hospital.

An autopsy found that the 20-year-old most likely died from a fatal combination of methadone and antidepressants.

Two weeks ago, a magistrate ruled that Daniel’s death could not be ruled a homicide and could only be listed as either an "accident," "misadventure," "non-dependent drug use" or "open verdict."

Daniel Smith’s Death Cannot Be Ruled a Homicide

March 20th, 2008

The death of Daniel Smith, Anna Nicole’s son, cannot be ruled as a homicide, a Bahamian court announced on Thursday.

A court magistrate in the inquest would only be able to list the cause of death as either an accident, "misadventure," "non-dependent drug use" or "open verdict." No one involved in the case had suggested homocide as an option.

"Misadventure" is defined as "a hazardous course of action which ended fatally, while an "open verdict" means the jury was unable to come to a conclusion of the cause of death.

Per TMZ, the magistrate will instruct the jury on the aforementioned options on March 31.

Earlier this week, Larry Birkhead testified that Daniel, who passed away at 20 on Sept. 10, 2006, stole methadone from his mother while Howard K. Stern asserted he himself never supplied Daniel with any drugs.
