Jacko Fans Stopped Before They Get Enough

April 15th, 2009

Instead of auctioning off 1,390 items from his personal collection of memorabilia, Michael Jackson had decided to moonwalk away from the sale in an unsurprising show of his increasingly fickle attitude.

Michael canceled on Julien’s Auctions, who will return the various gloves and cars on April 25. Instead of buying Jacko’s goods, fans will be able to view the collection for $20 until April 25.

"Both parties, Julien’s Auctions and Michael Jackson, agree to halt the auction," Martin J. Nolan, Executive Director of Julien’s Auctions told ABC News. "All items will remain intact as one collection and will be returned to Michael Jackson."

"Both sides agree to make a generous donation to Music Cares, the charity founded by the Recording Academy," added Nolan.

In recent years, Michael has changed his mind on many things, including a comeback tour with his brothers in The Jackson Five and an album for a Bahrainian sheikh, who then sued him over it.

Jacko agreed to have Julien’s sell the items after he was forced to sell Neverland Ranch. However in March he changed his mind and sued the auction house, saying he hadn’t authorized the sale.

Fantasa to Lose House?

January 7th, 2009

Singer Fantasia Barrino could ose her house in a debtor’s auction next Monday, but officials tell the New York Post that she’s ignoring the threat.

The American Idol winner owes a credit company $65,000 she used for back taxes in 2006. She made a payment on the loan in August 2007 in the amount of $10,000, but hasn’t made any others since. The company won the right to auction her North Carolina home, worth $1.3 million, for the remainder of the payment.

Mecklenburg County sheriff’s deputies, where the hosue is located, have reportedly attempted to contact Fantasia a dozen times, on the phone and by going to her house personally, with no response.

"We try very hard and give the defendant every opportunity to pay,"  Sgt. J.W. England, a supervisor of civil judgments tells the paper. "We try very hard and give the defendant every opportunity to pay,"

Fantasia’s lawyer is staying mum, as well. "It’s my practice not to talk about client matters," attorney Gary Greenberg says.

Michael Jackson’s Glove for Sale!

December 10th, 2008

First Neverland went up for grabs and now 2,000 other personal items belonging to the King of Pop are going to auction, as Michael Jackson seems to be aiming to alleviate financial woes.

So break open that piggy bank, Jacko fans, and you could be the next owner of Michael’s single, glittery glove, worn in his 1983 video for "Billie Jean." Or dig deep into your pockets and bid on the gates that once adorned the entrance to Neverland.

These and other posessions wil be on sale on April 21, online and broadcast live on Auction Network. The items will also be on display beforehand so fans can get an eyeful and cash in their savings.

Not all the profits are going into Jacko’s pocket, however, as he’s planning to donate a portion of the proceeds to MusiCares, a charity that helps musicians in need.

Fantasia’s Home Up for Auction

December 9th, 2008

Looks like times are rough–even for American Idol winners.

Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino’s house in North Carolina has hit the auction block, according to court documents.

The Idol winner reportedly failed to repay money loaned to her by a company to cover her taxes in 2006.

The Mecklenberg County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled to sell the home, valued at $1.1 million, in January. The home is not in foreclosure, but is being used to compensate the company’s loss.

Barrino, whose autobiography is titled Life is Not a Fairy Tale, has rapidly ascended to stardom after winning the third season of American Idol in 2004.

Barrino has released two albums and debuted on Broadway playing the lead role of Celie in the musical version of The Color Purple. She also is nominated for a Grammy for ”I’m His Only Woman,” a song she performs with fellow American Idol alum and Academy Award winning actress Jennifer Hudson.

Even if January’s sale proceeds, Barrino still has a house in Charlotte. The soul singer has a $529,000 home a couple miles from the one scheduled for sale in south Charlotte.

Larry Goldman, a Charlotte-based attorney representing the Florida company that made the loan, said he hopes Barrino will pay the judgment before the home goes to auction on Jan. 12.

”It seems like a huge waste of time and resources, and puts her home at risk,” Goldman said. ”I can’t imagine that somebody is not advising her that it would be expedient to write a check and not have to deal with all the ramifications of having her home sold.”
