Michael Jackson Autopsy Report Untrue

June 29th, 2009

After a report today claimed to have lurid details from Michael Jackson’s autopsy, including descriptions of his body being "riddled with track marks" and his head being almost completely bald, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has released a statement decrying those details as untrue.

"The report that is being published did not come from this office. I don’t know where the information came from, or who that information came from. It is not accurate. Some of it is totally false," says the statement.

A British newspaper was the first to publish the bogus information, saying MJ’s body was covered in needle marks, his hair was reduced to peach fuzz and he weighed only 112 pounds.

The real results of the autopsy aren’t due for 4-6 more weeks.

Death Certificate Says Jett Travolta Died From Seizure

January 5th, 2009

A Bahamian funeral home says Jett Travolta’s death certificate states the 16-year-old son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston died from a seizure, according to the Associated Press.

The assistant director of the funeral home handling Jett’s remains tells the AP that the body is in "great condition" and shows no sign of head trauma, despite police officials saying the teen may have hit his head on a bathtub.

Authorities performed an autopsy on Monday but didn’t release the results. Campbell said the certificate was based on the autopsy findings, and gave no further information on the cause of death beyond the word "seizure."

ET  has confirmed that Jett’s body is being cremated in the Bahamas and the ashes will be given to the Travolta family sometime tomorrow morning.

Jett Travolta Autopsy Completed in Bahamas

January 5th, 2009

The autopsy looking into the death of 16-year-old Jett Travolta, son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston, who passed away Friday, has just been completed, TMZ reports, although no preliminary results have been released. His body has been moved to the Restview Memorial Mortuary and Crematorium in the Bahamas.

E! News reported earlier today that a local coroner, along with a U.S.-certified specialist, were going to try and determine the exact cause of death after Jett was found unconscious on Friday morning by a caretaker. An official report could be released by the end of the day.

It appears that Jett suffered from a seizure and hit his head on the bathub in his room at the Old Bay Bahama resort, according to Travolta family lawyer Michael Ossi and Bahamian authorities.

Ossi and another family lawyer, Michael McDermott, tell TMZ that the grand mal seizures Jett suffered, which the family believes could be attributed to Kawasaki disease, were "frequent and extremely serious, and that "each seizure was like a death."

While some reports suggested that Jett wasn’t given medication to prevent his seizures because of the family’s belief in Scientology, Ossi and McDermott attest that Jett had been on anti-seizure medication Depakote, which originally reduced his seizures from every four days to once every three weeks. However, the drug had recently lost its efficiency and he was back to one seizure a week. Fearing Jett would suffer phsyical damage, the Travoltas stopped administering the medication after consulting neurosurgeons.

A viewing of Jett’s body may take place tomorrow in Freeport, and will then most likely be flown to Ocala, Fla., for burial.

Heath Ledger Autopsy Inconclusive

January 23rd, 2008

A medical examiner for New York City has said that Wednesday’s autopsy into Heath Ledger’s death is inconclusive.

New York City Medical Examiner spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said, "We have to do further testing including toxicology and tissue testing. Neither cause of death or manner of death has been concluded. We expect additional results in 10 days to two weeks."

Although it has been confirmed that Heath had pneumonia at the time of his death and prescription pills were found in his apartment yesterday afternoon, there is still no reason for Heath’s untimely death.

UPDATE: According to the Associated Press, authorities found six different types of prescription drugs in Ledger’s apartment, including pills to treat insomnia, anxiety and an antihistamine. Three of the drugs were prescribed in Europe.

The NYPD has also confirmed no illegal drugs were found in the actor’s apartment, and a rolled up $20 dollar bill found at the scene tested negative for drug residue.

NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly released the information at a Manhattan news conference, but did not elaborate on whether police think the bill — discovered on the floor near Ledger’s bed — may have been used to snort drugs.

The prescription sleeping pills and anti-anxiety pills were found in bottles in Ledger’s bedroom and bathroom, and police said the death was caused by a possible drug overdose and appeared to be accidental.
